Care for the Caregiver: Staying Healthy

Putting care for the caregiver at the top of the list of priorities is a much studied topic. When a caregiver stays healthy, the family member is more likely to be well cared for - simple logic, but not as easy as it seems. Caregivers deal with stress, which can cause a myriad of health problems. Caregivers had a 23 percent higher level of stress hormones and a 15 percent lower level of antibody responses than non-caregivers.
