Some More Good Medical News

I saw my PCP today. She already had a progress note from my neurologist, the results of my CT scan and other lab results. We had a good talk about everything that's going on with me. She agrees to help me coordinate all of my doctors and medications as long as she is kept in the loop about things. I wanted to hug her when she said that! We are working on some things diet wise to get my Potassium levels up. She also ordered a blood test to get my levels so that she can see if the disgusting medicine that I have to drink is working or not. If not she feels it's not worth me taking it any … [Read more...]

Health Update

I guess it's time to update you on my health issues and my ever growing assertiveness as a patient. I called my Gastro doctor's office again and again, leaving messages with both my home and cell phone numbers, asking why I was scheduled for a test that would be very difficult to go through especially in my weakened condition. I finally got two messages (even though they had my cell phone number, I guess it was easier to leave a message instead of talking to me directly) telling me that the only reason the lower bowel series test was scheduled was because my chief complaint was abdominal … [Read more...]

Battered But Back

Two days ago, I had a late start to my day and ended up being behind in a lot of the things I needed to do. I felt the stress hitting me. I was trying my best to relax but it got the better of me. I ended up with a migraine. I'm on a preventative so the migraines I get now are far and few between. They also don't even feel very painful. This one though made me feel like I got hit by a truck. It not only hurt, it made me feel weak, sick to my stomach and unable to look at anything. When that happens I end up in bad with the door closed, an eye mask covering my eyes and wishing I could … [Read more...]

PFT

I had my annual pulmonary function test today. The respiratory therapist that did it was new but very nice. He was a bit talkative and so I am I so that made for an interesting breathing test! I asked him if he had ever treated anyone with Myasthenia Gravis before. He told me that he had. He had worked in a rehab hospital for the VA. He went on to tell me about how I should be exercising. Yes I know that I need to move around as much as I can. But when he started talking about using weights and resistance and knowing how much weight to use, I started to think he was a little crazy. Did he … [Read more...]
