Avon Walk for Breast Cancer – Nonprofit of the Month

Thanks to my friend and fellow blogger, Maricris Guadagna, I was introduced to the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. My hope is to provide some details about this nonprofit and to share the reason Maricris is asking for donations for her walk. The Avon Walk There are several walks scheduled in the US. Each walk is a 39-mile weekend fundraising event. The walk is completed in 2 days. Mom Surgery Tomorrow

After being sick in Hawaii and then being hospitalized when we came home, my Mom has her surgery scheduled for tomorrow. She will be having her axillary lymph nodes removed. It will be done in the hospital and she'll stay overnight. This makes us all feel much better as she is still feeling weak. It's been a rough time around here. She is very depressed and anxious and who can blame her? She's 80 years old and has spent her life taking care of other people. Walking For Breast Cancer With La Vie de Laurie

My friend Laurie Brosius from La Vie de Laurie is walking the Susan G. Komen 3 Day For The Cure for the second time on next year. She recently took part in the 2009 Dallas Race for the Cure with her husband. She inspires me not only for walking 60 miles in 3 days and 5 Kilometers in a day, but for working throughout the year to raise the $2300 necessary to take part in the 3 Day. Why does she do it?
