Along my journey with the Universal Women, we are on Chapter 10 of Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff which focuses on how to live in the moment. As literate as I can be, all I can say is, “Wow!” because this is exactly what I need. Right now. I’m a worrier by nature with the disorder of Generalized Anxiety written all over my medical chart. Anxiety runs in my family and it’s been with me since I was a child. Medications and counseling help me a great deal. And so does looking at life in a new way. Special Needs Kids Doctor Appointment Tips

We took our special needs kid for a doctor appointment yesterday and realized that there's so much we have to learn. I hope sharing these tips will help others and open up discussion for more information. Special Needs Child This is the first time that I'm using the term "special needs" for my daughter, Sammi. At the age of 12, she has been diagnosed with Sinus Tachycardia, Mitral Valve Prolapse, Anxiety, Depression, and Narcolepsy. Questioning My Parenting Skills

I've been down in the dumps because I'm questioning my own parenting skills. There's been so much happening with our daughter that I feel like my decisions are often wrong. Keep in mind that my daughter has been diagnosed with Sinus Tachycardia, Narcolepsy, Anxiety and Depression. She has panic attacks (they are not related to the tachycardia). She is not doing well in school for the first time ever. She doesn't want to socialize with other children outside of school. Update on 504 Plan

We had our meeting about Sammi's 504 plan last week and it was approved. My husband and I were very nervous about the meeting but I believe we did a good job of advocating for my daughter. We also had the help of the Parent Volunteer from the Parent Center at the meeting via phone. Knowing she was listening in and was able to ask questions and provide information for us made things a lot easier.
