• About

I’m a wife and mom of two daughters. My daughters are 12 years apart so that keeps me quite busy and a little crazy at times. My life is a jumble of mixed up mishaps, but it’s always centered around my family.

    They’re Going To Spend Money

    September 30th, 2008

The stock market took a huge plunge yesterday. We know that we’re in a financial crisis. Unemployment rates are skyrocketing. Foreclosures are the norm. Gas prices, food prices, all prices are going up.

But do you still see people buying cigarettes? Know of people taking vacations? See people on golf courses or eating out at restaurants? You know you do it too. As much as you try to save there are some things that you can’t help but splurge.

For my family we end up spending money on take out. Hubby and I are just too tired at the end of the day sometimes to cook. We know we’re wasting money but we can’t get out of the habit.

The good news in this for those of us who work at home either with blogging or selling online is that people are still going to buy. Don’t get caught up in the bad news of the recent days and the coming days. Keep on working!

I’m Going to Be An A Blogger

    September 28th, 2008

I’ve set my goal to be an A List Blogger. “In absence of clearly defined goals, we become strangely loyal to performing daily acts of trivia.” Author Unknown

I intend to work at this with all I have. I may have some things that can hold me back, my health being the biggest obstacle, but I can and will make a way around the difficulties that can occur. I know that everyone has problems. You can either face them, ignore them or give up.

I don’t give up, that’s not an option. I don’t ignore the issues I have because that would cause me more grief in the long run. I face them and find solutions. I try to prepare posts in advance and keep them in draft so that I can publish them if I am sick. I also have a good support system in place who can do guest posts for me if need be. Most important of all, I try to keep as healthy as possible by watching what I eat, taking my medications and keeping my doctors’ appointments.

I’m learning how to improve both my blogging and my internet presence by joining forums and taking part in online conferences. I also use Twitter to make connections and stay informed of the latest trends in blogging and the news of top name bloggers.

One thing I’ve learned from a recent conference from Lynne Terry was digital footprints. She wrote a post, Social Media (A Warning) about it. This is where I am going to be doing a great deal of work, changing how I use Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.

So, watch out blogging world, here I come!

    Some Music To Work By

    September 23rd, 2008

I need quiet when I’m writing but when I’m doing mundane things I need some motivation. Here are some of the songs I like to listen to as I “whistle while I work” (really showing my age even before my list of songs LOL):

    1. Pump It – Black Eyed Peas
    2. Boomn’ – Toby mac
    3. One World – Toby mac
    4. One Week – Barenaked Ladies
    5. Girls Just Wanna Have Fun – Cyndi Lauper
    6. Dive – Steven Curtis Chapman
    7. The Great Adventure – Steven Curtis Chapman
    8. I’m Every Woman – Chaka Khan
    9. Bohemiam Rhapsody – Queen
    10. Celebration – Kool & The Gang

What are some of your favorite motivational songs? Why not share them and we can help each other out?

    Setting Up Office

    September 18th, 2008

Working at home is an awesome opportunity for lots of people but for moms it really helps out. No worries about childcare, having the flexibility to be there for your child when he’s sick or when there’s a special event at school. There’s so many positives about being a WAHM.

When you make the plunge or if you’ve already done so it’s important to have a good set up at home, one that is comfortable for you and one that makes your work space be just that. Your home office should be a place set aside for you to do business. It’s best to have Office Furniture so that it looks professional not only to help you with your own attitude but with your family and friends as well. If you are in your work space it means you are working!office desk

Something else to think about when you set up your work space is that you will be spending a lot of time there. When you begin a new business you can expect to be working long hours to get it off the ground. So think ergonomics. Office Desks that don’t cause discomfort and have extra room to move around are ideal. You may want to consider space saving furniture if you are using a room that doubles as something else though. There’s also desks that blend into your home furniture or have drawer fronts that match your room colors. And don’t forget about corner desks. Those are perfect for saving space.

Of course keep in mind that you’ll need room for your computer and your other supplies. So measure what will take up space before you buy your Computer Desk. I’ve made the mistake of buying a desk without doing this. I still struggle with not having enough room for my desktop, files, modem, speakers, printer and other supplies. I ended up having to purchase a file cabinet, a printer table with a cabinet for more files and plastic containers, etc. Planning and measuring will save you headaches, time and money.

Getting your home office set up is a good first step to getting your home business started. Looking for office furniture that helps you and others view you as the professional you are makes the same point as putting up a Do Not Disturb sign when you’re sitting at your desk working. Keeping your home life and business life separate helps you to keep your work and family time in check and to create boundaries that you may find necessary.
Finding the right furniture that helps you stay efficient and get your work done as well as keep you from being uncomfortable is a plus.

Planning with any type of business is key. Don’t forget this important step so you can move along with all of the other things to get to work.
