• About

I’m a wife and mom of two daughters. My daughters are 12 years apart so that keeps me quite busy and a little crazy at times. My life is a jumble of mixed up mishaps, but it’s always centered around my family.

    Demanding Charter To My Area

    November 2nd, 2009

There’s a monopoly of cable companies in my area meaning that there’s just one and Charter isn’t included. We have to use what is offered or go with digital satellite programming. People have tried to convince our local government that we deserve a choice but it’s gone on deaf ears.

I’ve learned that if I had Charter digital, I’d also have Charter on Demand for free. Makes me want it even more. I’m always missing some of my favorite TV shows like The Office, 30 Rock and The Big Bang Theory. I forget when they’re on and then hear about how funny they were later on. With Charter on Demand I can watch them any time for free! Just take a peek to learn more at charter.net/ondemand

Besides the regular television shows, there’s movies available too. Ever have the mood to sit back and watch a chick flick and just forget about the housework and the chaos around you? That’s definitely when I don’t want to go out to rent a movie because I feel like a slug. All I need to do is just select want you want, grab some chocolate and pop some popcorn and enjoy.

I’m going to keep my eyes open for Charter to come to my area and get updates and fun extras on Charter’s Facebook page

    iCarly DVD Review

    May 7th, 2009

iCarly is a TV series about 3 teenagers who make a web-show. They do it on their own without any adult assistance. They use technology like green screens, video camera, a sound effect machine and computers. There are no rules when it comes to their web-show titled “iCarly”. Every web-show focuses on something new and they try their best to do funny and outrageous things to attract more viewers.

icarlyThe 3 main characters are friends with different personalities but who get along very well. Sam, one of the girls, is very aggressive. Carly, the “star” of the show is kind and the peacemaker. Freddie, the teen boy, is intelligent and the one behind the technical aspects of the web-show. Their families are unique too. Carly’s brother, Spencer is an artist and is her caregiver. Freddie’s mother is extremely over protective. Sam’s family isn’t really shown, but her mother is mentioned.

iCarly also has it’s own real website where you can read blogs, see photos, play game, send in your own videos and watch bonus videos that are not on the TV show.

My daughter’s review: “I just love to watch iCarly. There’s always something funny about it. I like that it has to do with computers and that it has it’s own website. I like Freddie because he’s so cute and good with computers. I also like Spencer because he’s an awesome artist and makes me laugh. I wish they could at least show Sam’s mother.”

My review: The iCarly DVD is family friendly and I don’t mind my daughter watching it alone. I like the way that the teen characters work out problems and learn from each other and the adults. Since my daughter is interested in computers, I think it inspires her to learn and do more on her own tech wise. It also creates more things for us to talk about.

Buy It: iCarly: Season 1, Vol. 2 is available on Amazon for $18.99. This DVD has 12 shows from Season 1. It stars Miranda Cosgrove, who play Carly. It runs for 292 minutes and is on 2 discs.

    Living In Lazy Town

    March 21st, 2009

It’s almost 10 PM and my daughter and I are still in our pajamas. Hey it’s OK to be lazy once in a while. It’s a lot of fun too. We just zoned out, watched TV, played some computer games and ate junk food.

I was able to eat a little better today so I took advantage and ate some sweets. Peanut got to watch some cartoons that she doesn’t get to see during the week. I’m so happy that she doesn’t like that weird show, Lazy Town. That actually scares me!

Instead we watched George of the Jungle and Chowder. I can handle those, kind of.

    Direct TV To Be Frugal

    February 25th, 2009

We’ve been having issues with our cable company. It’s been ages and there’s no end in sight. Our cable TV goes out and our connection is bad. We don’t have any premier channels because we don’t want to pay extra. When we call for service it takes a long time for a service person to come to our home. One of the reasons is that most of our neighbors have DirectTV. It’s just poor little us complaining.

There are a number of DirectTV deals going on right now that are making us rethink our cable TV subscription. If you call them directly or use autopay you save money. Also there’s free HBO (3 channels), Showtime (9 channels) and Starzz (12 channels) for the next three months.

I just noticed that there’s even more deals if you order service directly from the internet. The listed DirectTV specials are: Free four room system and installation and free HD, DVR or DVR Receiver Upgrade. You can get a 15 second quote online too.
