• About

I’m a wife and mom of two daughters. My daughters are 12 years apart so that keeps me quite busy and a little crazy at times. My life is a jumble of mixed up mishaps, but it’s always centered around my family.

    Jump Rope For Heart

    February 10th, 2009

Can you help? My daughter Peanut is taking part in the American Heart Association Jump Rope for Heart at her school. She does this every year in memory of her grandfather that she never met, who died from heart disease before she was born and in memory of her uncle who died also.

Her goal is $400. She set it high but that’s what she wants to raise. I’m asking if you can help out. In order to donate online, the minimum payment is $25, but if you’d like to donate less by PayPal, I promise that the money will go directly this fund. Just comment here with your email and I’ll get in touch with you with the PayPal info.

You’ll be able to see each donation that is made after the money is collected. What I’ll do is write individual checks for the amount you donate so you can see your donation. If you’d like to chip in with a friend, you can do that too, as long as it equals $25.

All donations need to be in by Thursday, February 12th.

Please pass this along. Thanks so much in advance!

After this is done, I wish I could reserve some hotel rooms for everyone who helps out.

    New Hobbies

    January 15th, 2009

Peanut is looking into doing something after school, something other than her normal routine. We got a paper home about some classes that are available and one of them is an art class. Peanut has been very interested in drawing and enjoys her art class in school.

I really want her to do some other things besides playing video games and going on the internet. This may be just the answer. I called to get information on who will be teaching and the cost is $30 for four classes. There’s a good possibility that this will happen.

She has a good friend that has horses. She’s shown some interest in that too. But to be honest we can’t afford riding lessons and theequestrian riding apparel and equipment she’ll need.

It’s a good thing that she chose art.

    Books and Blanket

    January 13th, 2009

Peanut is so excited about going to school tomorrow (wait did I just write that?). She’s chosen her book and her blanket for reading time tomorrow, a school-wide project where all students spend part of the day with a book of their choice, chillaxing on a blanket on the floor.

Books and a Blanket is one of Peanut’s favorite activities at school. Some teachers add things like letting their students wear slippers, drinking hot chocolate, adding snacks, etc. In the past, she’s done this once a month or so. But as she’s getting older and there’s so much school work to do, time in the classroom is limited.

I’m so happy with her school’s injenuity and attention to the children. Imagine students wanting to read? That’s one of the things that happens when you add a little fun to books.

    Back To School Again

Tomorrow starts school again for Peanut. She is not a happy camper in the least. Although she loves school, she also is like me, a night owl. She does not like going to bed early and waking up early. She would also rather spend time on the computer, playing video games, reading, and watching TV.

But tomorrow we’re back to waking up early, getting her books, school uniform and homework ready the night before and deciding on lunch. Ah, homework! Can’t wait for that to start again. The procrastination, the whining and the trying to learn math for fourth graders at my age is just not something I look forward to at all.

But it has to happen and it things will falll into place soon. Summer vacation will be upon us soon too. And it will be back to school for fifth grade all too soon too.
