Womens’ Shelters

The Single Mothers Day at church is moving along. I called some local organizations to invite women. I've called our local shelter for women who've been abused to give the shelter director the information. My friend Darlene contacted a woman who helps our local military families who have spouses that are deployed. We thought it would be nice to include them even though they are not technically single. Hitting Bad Times

Our church has a food pantry. In the last three months we've run out of food almost every week. We're serving a lot more families than we used to. The economy is really bad and is hurting the area that I live in a lot. Most of our jobs are in the home building and real estate areas but there are very few homes selling now. People are hitting hard times, even people with good paying jobs. Groceries and gas prices are very high. It's easy to fall behind on your bills. When that happens your credit suffers for it. Stamping It Out

I have so many address labels that if I put them together in one long strip they'd probably reach the moon. The problem is that I didn't order them. They are those freebies that come with a plea for a donation to a charity I've never heard of, or one that I don't want to give money to, or one that I don't agree with. The labels have a few problems. They may have my name wrong. I kept my maiden name and took my husband's name when we got married. So I'm one of those old feminists who have a hyphen in my name. Police Unity Tour

My dear friend is taking part in the Police Unity Tour for the second year. This charity event is special to him and it should be special to us. The non-profit named the Police Unity Tour of Florida Inc. not only memorializes Law Enforcement Officers killed in the line of duty, they also provide support to widows or widowers and children who are left behind.
