The pilot of the Big Bang Theory aired on Monday now that the show is in syndication. And the theme of this episode is Leonard meeting Penny. It’s love at first sight for Leonard, but Penny sees him as a friend. One that she can ask a favor of. And when Leonard realizes that his heart will allow him to do anything for Penny, he’s humiliated.

You see, Penny asks Leonard to get back her TV from her ex-boyfriend’s house. Her boyfriend is the exact opposite of Leonard – all looks and no brains. The result – Leonard gets de-pantsed. It’s not the first time this has happened to him and he accepts that it won’t be the last, especially when it comes to Penny.

We get to relive all the episodes of the Big Bang Theory now that’s it’s on 5 nights a week on MOR. Starting with Season one and going through each season. Don’t forget to tune in and think about the most embarrassing thing that’s happened to you especially when it comes to love. For me, it was asking writing a note to a guy that I had a crush on. Instead of cherishing that note, he showed it to everyone. I wanted to die!

The Big Bang Theory is one of those shows that brings back memories and creates new ones. If you have a teenager who hasn’t seen the show from the start, now’s the time to watch together.

I have been hired by Warner Bros. WBWord division to promote The Big Bang Theory in Syndication.

Because people run red lights, safety cameras save lives. I’ve seen red light runners myself and have been scared to death. I wait and look when the light turns green, just to be sure that no one is running a red light. Imagine doing everything right, being sure your car is running well, wearing your seat belt and following the traffic laws when a stranger runs a red light and runs into your car.

A recent study by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) found that 113,000 people were injured and 676 were killed in crashes that involved red-light running in 2009 – two-thirds of the victims were pedestrians, bicyclists and occupants of vehicles hit by the red-light runners.

Imagine the horror of someone you love being hit, injured or killed by a stranger running a red light.

Red-light safety cameras helped save more than 150 lives in 14 of the biggest U.S. cities from 2004 to 2008. Had the cameras been operating in all 99 U.S. cities with populations more than 200,000, more than 800 lives could have been saved.

Slow down and follow all traffic laws, especially remembering that “Red Means Stop”. Text SAFE to 723389 (SAFETY) and we’ll let you know how you can help build support for safer roads. Join the National Coalition for Safe Roads Facebook page and share it with others. Tell others about the importance of red light safety. Follow Safer Roads USA on Twitter and retweet their messages. It’s coming soon. May 21st is Judgment Day, according to Harold Camping, founder of Family Radio Worldwide.

Never mind that Mr. Camping told everyone to get ready for Doomsday before, on September, 4 1994. That was a mistake of his own. He misread the Biblical coding he is ordained to use. But, he’s certain this time around. So certain that many of his followers have paid for billboards and have left families and homes to take part in “Caravans” to warn others.

I’m not a practicing Christian right now, but I do remember that the Bible says we are not able to predict when Jesus will return to earth. So, I’m not sure how a man can know the exact date of Judgment Day.

As for me, I’ll be getting ready for a typical Saturday at my home. Hopefully, this stomach bug will be over so I can get out the house and get some chores done. My calendar is full for months. I’m not expecting any news of Doomsday to hit the airwaves, but I do know that there will be lots of jokes on Twitter and Facebook all Saturday. And Harold Camping will have to come up with a reason for why his Biblical codes were wrong again.

Mariah Carey and her husband, Nick Cannon welcomed a girl and boy into the world on their 3rd anniversary. It seems like a fairy tale, doesn’t it? Their daughter arrived first, weighing 5lb 3oz. Their son arrived next at  5lb 6oz. No names have been shared yet. I wonder if they are going to use a focus group to choose the baby’s names! I’m sure they’ll put a lot of thought into baby names and meanings before deciding though. After all they want their fairy tale like life to continue.

Speaking of fairy tales, who else was mesmerized by the Royal Wedding? Although I didn’t get up early to watch the wedding live, I did see it on TV that day. I’ve also watched it the next day a number of times. It was just a beautiful event that showed that real love exists in this world.

Of course we know that fairy tales are just in books and movies. Reality is sometimes difficult. Focusing on some good things that are happening around us is good for the soul though.

Japan has not been far from my thoughts since the Earthquake and Tsunami hit on March 11th. Any disaster is heart wrenching, but the magnitude of what Japan has been through and the continuing effects of it has hit me very hard. Since word about the nuclear crisis in Fukushima has been slowly reaching us, my fear for the people, especially the children has grown.

I have a special place in my heart for Japan. My daughter, Sammi, loves the Japanese culture, is trying to learn the language and hopes to visit there one day. This may sound silly, but I can’t help myself imaging my daughter there while the disaster hit. It’s a nightmare that I can’t seem to shake, but it’s reality for so many.

Japan Disaster Facts

An estimated 100,000 children have been displaced from their homes

Japan facing three disasters: earthquake, tsunami and nuclear radiation

Japan is on high nuclear alert for two nuclear reactors in Fukushima

Many tsunami-affected areas are still cut off from relief

More than 465 roads, 43 bridges and seven railways washed away

More than 380,000 people evacuated across the country

Due to the fact the quake and tsunami hit during the day, most children were in school or nurseries separated from their parents – fears are that many will be orphaned.

The triple horror of Japan’s earthquake, tsunami, and potential nuclear disaster has raised concerns over the long-term impact on children, some of whom are already displaying signs of trauma, from screaming nightmares to silent withdrawal.

The potential for lasting trauma is compounded by the unusual multiple nature of the event: a massive 9.0 earthquake, a devastating tsunami and a nationwide scare over a possible meltdown at a nuclear plant.

Experts say the scale of the loss and disruption for some children would have been almost inconceivable: homes destroyed, friends disappeared, one or both parents maybe killed, or siblings and other close family members missing.

Initial efforts to help them come to terms with the tragedy can only be made in extremely stressful circumstances, with families packed into ill-equipped evacuation shelters, suffering bitterly cold nights and frequent terrifying aftershocks.

“We found children in desperate conditions, huddling around kerosene lamps and wrapped in blankets,” said Save the Children spokesman Ian Woolverton, who visited a number of evacuation centres in the coastal regions of northeast Japan that bore the brunt of the March 11 tsunami.

“They told me about their anxieties, especially their fears about radiation,” Woolverton said, adding that several youngsters had mentioned the atomic attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, which they know from school books.

Parents, many traumatised themselves, have struggled to keep their own fears in check as they try to soothe their children and provide them with some sense of normality and security.

Atsushi Takahashi, 36, said his two-year-old son Haruto has been terrified by the constant, sometimes powerful aftershocks.

“He’s been very scared, crying out ‘the house is shaking. I don’t like the house’,” Takahashi said, holding his son as he waited in a queue for a truck bringing fresh water to his neighbourhood.

“I always tell him that everything is okay and I hug him,” Takahashi said. “I think we just have to let time heal the wounds.”

Many children have had trouble sleeping, woken repeatedly in the night by bad dreams, while others have mentally shut down, shunning any company but their parents, whom they refuse to let out of their sight for even a moment.

Woolverton said the priority for Save The Children was to set up “child-friendly spaces” where children of a similar age could interact and start to play together again.

“I know from years of experience that if children play, it can ward off the chance of major long-term emotional trauma,” he said.

“The idea is also to relieve the stress on parents and to give them a break from childcare duties as they register for emergency assistance, try to find food, locate friends and family members and, in the longer term, jobs and housing.”

At Disney World

We spent a week at Disney World and made it priority to visit the Japan pavilion at EPCOT. Although everything looked the same, the mood was somber. In the store, the normally happy young woman who sell chances to win a pearl from an oyster were subdued. All of the workers were quiet and seemed to be in a state of shock. They were still friendly and gracious as we bought a few items and told them how sorry we are for what their country is going through.

St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner, and it’s not the luck of the Irish that will keep the roads safe – it’s planning ahead for a safe and sober way home. This year, St. Patrick’s Day falls on a Thursday (March 17th). Some people may take Friday off and plan on partying for a long weekend.

Unfortunately, some of these people might also be driving home from their festivities and therefore, the night out has also become potentially dangerous. There are parties at people’s homes, at bars, at lodges, during and after parades and in entire neighborhoods. Even if you will not be celebrating this St. Patrick’s Day, keep in mind that in 2009, 1,119 occupants of other vehicles were killed in crashes involving alcohol-impaired drivers, so pay attention to others on the road.

On St. Patrick’s Day 2009, 37 percent of the drivers and motorcyclists involved in fatal crashes had a blood alcohol content (BAC) of .08 or above, according to statistics by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).  And remember, you don’t have to be “falling down drunk” to be too impaired to drive safely. Even a few drinks can impair driving…and a buzzed driving crash has the same consequences as a drunk driving crash.

Learn more about Buzzed Driving is Drunk Driving on Facebook and Twitter.

If you are going to drink, plan ahead. Get a designated driver, keep the number of a taxi company with you, learn about public transportation, find a Sober Ride program in your area and don’t drive buzzed!

I was not compensated for this post but believe that this message is important to share in an effort to save lives. Information provided by Global Influence, NHTSA, the Ad Council and Buzzed Driving is Drunk Driving.

A Toy Story new short, Hawaiian Vacation will be released along with Cars 2 on June 24, 2011.

In celebration of their recent Oscar® win for Best Animated Feature, Woody, Buzz and the rest of the “Toy Story 3” gang head to the big screen again this summer in “Hawaiian Vacation,” a 3D animated short directed by seven-time Academy Award®-winner Gary Rydstrom. “Hawaiian Vacation” will appear exclusively with the upcoming “Cars 2” theatrical release, which races into U.S. theaters on June 24, 2011, and will be presented in Disney Digital 3D™ and IMAX® 3D in select theaters. John Lasseter returns to the driver’s seat to direct the follow-up to his 2006 Golden-Globe®-winning “Cars.”

Set in new owner Bonnie’s bedroom, “Hawaiian Vacation” features Woody (voice of Tom Hanks) and Buzz (voice of Tim Allen) and the rest of the favorite “Toy Story 3” toys as they create the ultimate Hawaiian vacation for Ken (voice of Michael Keaton) and Barbie (voice of Jodi Benson). It seems Ken badly miscalculated their travel arrangements, so the gang has to create a dream getaway in Bonnie’s Midwestern bedroom—in the middle of winter. “Hawaiian Vacation” also features the voices of Joan Cusack, Wallace Shawn, Don Rickles, Estelle Harris, Blake Clark, Bonnie Hunt, Timothy Dalton, Kristen Schaal, Jeff Garlin and John Ratzenberger.
