My daughter is an extremely picky eater but one thing she does like is pasta, especially with homemade sauce. She didn’t have a clue that she was eating a different pasta and ate her entire bowl. I’m a picky pizza eater. After all I’m Italian and I’m from New York City. I grew up with homemade pizza and pizza from pizza parlors. There weren’t any corporations who owned pizza places. It was a Dominic or a Joseph. Maybe Dominic took his brother on and let him know the secret ingredients to his hand tossed pizza.

You’d have to order by phone on Friday nights and then wait for at least an hour to pick up your pizza. But it was worth it. And everyone had their own favorite pizza place. Easy to make and salsa go together well, especially when it comes to busy holiday weekends, like this Memorial Day weekend, when you want to relax but still eat good food. Mrs. Wages makes packaged mixes for salsa. All you need to add are fresh tomatoes or canned tomatoes.

I chose the Classic Salsa Mix to try out because it’s mild and but still has garlic, chili peppers, onion and lots of spices to add a kick to fresh tomatoes. It took about 15 minutes to make (including 10 minutes waiting time) and I ended up with a bowl full (1 pint). All I had to do was clean and chop up 2 large tomatoes, add the package of Mrs. Wages, mix, let stand 10 minutes and eat with tortilla chips.

Review: The finished product, fresh salsa, had a wonderful spice filled taste. It was a bit salty, but we just learned to eat less on each tortilla chip than we normally would to balance out the flavors. That made it last even longer. It even looked good! We’re going to make a different package to eat for our Memorial Day picnic.
