I Think It’s Gonna Be OK

Peanut was sick for a few days. When that happens it's that struggle of Mommy vs. Chronically Ill Mother. Do I wear a mask around her? Was she contagious before we even knew she was sick? Should I take care of her or have hubby take time off from work? You see, when you're on immunosuppressants and you have children these are the issues you have to consider. And if you get sick from your child and end up "really sick" your child may feel guilty. So what do you do? I still don't know. If I ever figure it out I'll let you know! I began volunteering at Peanut's school last year. I worked … [Read more...]

Third Grade and The Last Semester of College

Today was the first day of school for both Lady Ali and Peanut. Ali began her last semester of college. She'll be graduating in December at the tender age of 20. I'm so proud I could burst! Peanut started third grade and was a bit anxious to start out but the second she got to her classroom she was fine. Ali called me to talk between classes and fill me in on the details. She too was nervous starting out her day - a family trait I suppose - but then once things got rolling she was fine. She said she missed my notes on her napkins and asked me if I wrote some for Peanut. Of course I did! So … [Read more...]

We’re Off to See the Mickey

The time has arrived. We leave tomorrow for Walt Disney World for our vacation. I know it's going to be beastly hot but we have a lovely one bedroom room at Old Key West. We're DVC members and get to live it up in style. So when the heat gets to me at the parks I just scoot on to the bus and go back to the room for a nap or a swim in the pool. Because of the heat I always go to the parks early in the morning and do as much as I can indoors. After a rest then dinner in our room we head back to the parks after the sun sets. We save money by eating breakfast in our room, taking a bagged lunch … [Read more...]

Worn To The Bone

I'm exhausted, so tired I can hardly type this. Yesterday I drove to Tampa to pick up my Mom from the airport after her trip to Atlanta. We had lunch at the Cheesecake Factory and then drove back home. Seeing my Mom was awesome, lunch was delicious, but oh my back, legs and shoulders ached. I was so tired too. Tried not to nap but just couldn't help it. Then I ended up not being able to sleep last night. When I did, I slept fitfully, probably from the pain. Today was another trip to Tampa. Thankfully I wasn't driving. I had trouble waking up and even when I did I felt out of it. But got me … [Read more...]

Road Trip and My Acceptance

Since Lady Ali is single I'm now allowed to be in her life more. That's fine with me! It's been tough with her being only 90 miles away and only seeing her once every few months. Today Peanut, Mom and I met her for lunch, spent a few hours together and laughed like the whacky people we are. It's nice to see your adult child.....so adult. She's just so self-assured, fun, responsible and well grown up. It's still tough to think about. I really need to accept this fact. I do most of the time (well some of the time) but when I spend time with her again, it all comes back. Life in rewind. … [Read more...]
