Worn To The Bone

I'm exhausted, so tired I can hardly type this. Yesterday I drove to Tampa to pick up my Mom from the airport after her trip to Atlanta. We had lunch at the Cheesecake Factory and then drove back home. Seeing my Mom was awesome, lunch was delicious, but oh my back, legs and shoulders ached. I was so tired too. Tried not to nap but just couldn't help it. Then I ended up not being able to sleep last night. When I did, I slept fitfully, probably from the pain. Today was another trip to Tampa. Thankfully I wasn't driving. I had trouble waking up and even when I did I felt out of it. But got me … [Read more...]

Road Trip and My Acceptance

Since Lady Ali is single I'm now allowed to be in her life more. That's fine with me! It's been tough with her being only 90 miles away and only seeing her once every few months. Today Peanut, Mom and I met her for lunch, spent a few hours together and laughed like the whacky people we are. It's nice to see your adult child.....so adult. She's just so self-assured, fun, responsible and well grown up. It's still tough to think about. I really need to accept this fact. I do most of the time (well some of the time) but when I spend time with her again, it all comes back. Life in rewind. … [Read more...]

Mean Mom

I am the Mean Mom. Always have been, always will be. I wear the title proudly. As any mother knows being mean according to your kids is not the same as being mean in adult terms. When we're mean, we're setting limits, laying down the law and making sure the kiddos learn all they need. We want our adult children to be giving members to the community and make us proud. So Mean Mom has a mission and it is an important one. Today my mission was to get Peanut to school even though it was the last thing on her mind to do. Even though she didn't eat breakfast, decided that cleaning her room was on … [Read more...]

When Your Child Hurts

Lady Ali had her heart broken today. Mine is breaking too. As a mother I feel her pain. No, it's not just words it's real. Any mother worth her salt can tell you that. I can't explain it. There's no words for it. Maybe it's like when a twin knows when her twin has been hurt? Not sure but I can't stand to know that she's sad. She's grown but I still want to protect her. I want to drive out there right now, hold her and tell her it'll be alright. Then go punch the guy. I'll be going to there on Monday but waiting that long is killing me. She's my first born. She's beautiful, sweet, loving … [Read more...]

Hanging by a Thread

My Peanut had a loose tooth. It was hanging out of her mouth, moving back and forth. She couldn't eat. She was afraid to go to sleep. All I heard was "My tooth won't come out but it feels like it will." I couldn't even get her to school today because she was scared her tooth would come out and would bleed. Yesterday I sent a note to her teacher asking if she'd please let Peanut have a cup at her desk in case her tooth came out. She was afraid if she'd bleed she would only have the faucet to rinse out her mouth. I was at the point where I wanted to pull out my hair. I don't want to hear … [Read more...]
