Living in the Tampa Bay area, I'm lucky enough to see beautiful sunsets almost every day. Although life can be difficult at times, focusing on the positive and being with my family is what gets me through.

Help Hungry Kids This Summer #SummerofGiving

I participated in this program on behalf of Champions for Kids and The Motherhood. All opinions are my own. The National School Lunch Program provides free and low-cost lunch and breakfast to children who meet income guidelines. But, when school is out, that’s two less nutritious meals or no meals at all. There’s a way to help  hungry kids with Champions for Kids: SIMPLE Service Project Champions for Kids’ motto is, “All children should have: Someone who cares; a Place to belong; Hope for tomorrow and provisions for their journey. All children.” This summer they are asking us to help with … [Read more...]

Myasthenia Gravis Month – Let’s Find a Cure

I’ve probably written about Myasthenia Gravis month 5 or 6 times. But, it is important to teach people what MG is and to ask for help in the form of donations or sharing. Myasthenia Gravis and Me I have had Myasthenia Gravis for 11 years now. My diagnosis happened when my daughters were 4 and 15. My husband and I were married for 6 years. And I had just turned 40. You could say that this was one of the worst times to get news like this, but when is it a good time? I felt like I was getting old when I hit that 40 year-old mark. Add to that a diagnosis that would change my life forever and … [Read more...]

Get Outdoors and Enjoy Nature! #ForestFriday

This is a sponsored post. All opinions are my own as always. It may be hard to believe, but surrounding Walt Disney World are untouched areas of forest, swamps and vegetation. My family and I love to sit outside our hotel room, listen to the crickets and look out for rabbit, ducks and wild turkey. After a long day of Disney attractions and long lines it’s so relaxing especially to look at the stars. When we’re driving in Disney World right around dusk, we often spot deer too. At some of the resorts we have seen alligators, turtles and fish in the swamps and lakes. Going outdoors and … [Read more...]

Summer Volunteer Opportunities for Families

Every summer my family and I like to add special volunteering to our “Pay it Forward” list. Since this season means being outdoors more often, I look forward to finding some new ways to give back and new charities to help. I hope this list of summer volunteer opportunities helps you too. Summer Volunteer Suggestions: Summer Carnivals – Use your creativity and get your family involved with a summer carnival. First, choose a nonprofit that you want to raise money from the carnival’s profits. You can be frugal and still make it fun for others to take part. Select a theme, create or borrow … [Read more...]

Cyber Safety Tips #Sponsored #MC #CyberTribe #CyberSafe

I participated in an Influencer Activation Program on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for BGCA. I received a promotional item to thank me for participating. Unfortunately I hear about cyber bullying way too much. It's in the news with its sometimes grisly outcomes. And I have a dear friend whose daughters are living the nightmare every day. It is taking a lot of time, effort and money to try to end the bullying and to catch the people involved. As a parent of a 15 year old girl I want to protect her and teach her about cyber safety, but I need to know exactly how. The Boys and Girls … [Read more...]
