It’s Beginning to Feel Patriotic Around Here!

As an Oriental Trading Ambassador, I receive products to test and facilitate posts. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Independence Day is one of my favorite holidays. Family time, lots of food, and of course, fireworks fill our day of celebration. I really enjoy decorating my home with patriotic items for the entire Summer, so I usually decorate a few days before Memorial Day and leave it up until the end of July. I’m just a Southern gal who loves her nation, and I make it obvious.

I haven’t really had a chance to hang my red, white, and blue outside this year. Afternoon pop-up storms are the norm for us here at the base of the Blue Ridge, but this year has definitely been more active than most. I honestly can’t tell you the last day a storm or two didn’t roll through. While the storms are usually quick, the wind has been exceptionally rough this year, and my outdoor decorations just can’t handle it.

Y’all know how much I love Oriental Trading, and I couldn’t resist ordering a beautiful Patriotic Bunting for my front porch when I ordered everything for the little one’s 4th birthday party 4th birthday Western Shindig. I spent over an hour hanging the bunting on my porch and tieing it off just right, and I wasn’t finished when thunder from an approaching storm chased me inside. The storm rolled through and took my beautiful bunting right with it. Thank goodness it landed on my clothesline, and that somehow kept the bunting from blowing into the road! I didn’t want to chance another windstorm destroying it, so I put the bunting away to use for our 4th of July party at my in-laws. They live almost an hour away and don’t see the everyday storms we have, so a few days ago I went over and hung the bunting on their deck

I didn’t want to chance another windstorm destroying it, so I decided it would be best to save for our 4th of July party. I finally got to hang it up tonight, and it looks great on the deck! It’s pulling double duty as a beautiful Independence Day decoration and a divider to block out the neighbor’s construction project next door! I still have to mess with it a bit more, but I wanted to hang it up now to let the wrinkles and fold lines fall out. My iron only comes out for crafting, and I wasn’t about to iron 20 feet of bunting!

I would love to go crazy buying patriotic supplies, but alas, I don’t have an endless budget. Keeping that in mind when I ordered birthday party supplies, I ordered a few things that work great for both occasions. Once again I’m using the roll of Gingham tablecloth I purchased at birthday time and the totally adorable utensil holder. Y’all, check out the super adorable patriotic pinwheel food picks!

I’m sure the kids will have more fun playing with them than eating with them, but I needed that cuteness in my life.

Add some adorable patriotic plates, and now all we need is a menu. Seriously, y’all. I can’t wait for the 4th of July! Now, I’ve got 2 hours before the fireworks warehouse closes, so I’ll see ya later. If you have any cute patriotic finds, feel free to share in the comments. I would love to see them!
