Turning 3 with a Rock Star Party

*Oriental Trading supplied me with discounted or promotional products in exchange for this post. All opinions are my own.*

This month my little one turned 3. This was the first year Aubrey was really old enough to join in the birthday party plans, so I let her pick the theme. I wasn’t the least bit surprised when she declared she would be having a “rocks ‘n rolls” rock star party. At a young age she is already showing a huge love of music. Then again, she comes from a musical family. My father-in-law is a drummer, my husband plays the bass, and I play the violin.

I’m not a fan of pre-made themes because I want our parties to be uniquely themed for the guest of honor. Aubrey’s favorite color is hot pink, and she loves zebra print. I knew right away my little rock star would love a hot pink and zebra print rock star inspired party.

I turned to Oriental Trading for my party supplies, and as usual I found everything I didn’t already have on hand for the perfect 3 year old rock star party.

From Oriental Trading:

Already had on hand:

  • Inflatable Musical Instruments
  • Pink and Silver Star Cut Outs
  • Items for Goodie Bags
  • Tableware and Silverware
  • Metal Buckets
  • Pink and Zebra print tissue paper

We covered the tables with the pink tablecloths and added a layer of the zebra print gossamer. The gossamer is see through, and the pink underneath worked so well! I used metal buckets I already had and shredded tissue paper to fill them. Then I added the Pink Ostrich feathers and Black Biot feathers for super simple centerpieces.  I taped the star cutouts around the table.

Some black and pink tulle draped around the window and a birthday banner finished off the area. Unfortunately, I forgot to close the blinds making for some really horrible photos. Boo!

Aubrey loves pulled pork, so we served simple barbecue style foods with various sauces, chips, fruit, cheese, and I picked up more of the Alexia Gourmet fries for the parents because we loved them so much!

After eating, the kids got to head to the swag table to grab a swag bag. There were mini recorders and rock star trophies to play with while waiting to hit the pool.

Some of the kids swam for a bit while Ben and I played lifeguard. When you have a group of 2-8 year olds you’re bound to have something happen. While I was still in the pool trying to convince my own kids it was time to take a break, some of the others found the cupcakes! I hurried out of the pool and snagged one for the birthday girl before it was too late! She didn’t even bother changing out of her “rocks ‘n rolls kini” before blowing out her candle.

All of the kids left happy and worn out from swimming, so I would call our rock star party a success. Thanks to Oriental Trading, the total cost of supplies and food for the party came to a little less than $115, and that makes my wallet happy.

Be sure to check out Oriental Trading for your next party or event. The prices are great, and there are so many items to choose from you’re sure to find something you will love!

A can of that temporary hair coloring that you can buy around Halloween would be good for the party as well.
