Monster High Draculaura Costume Review

My oldest, Ellie, celebrates her birthday at the end of October, so we always have a fun party that incorporates Halloween into her birthday festivities. In years past we’ve invited all the kids to wear their Halloween costume, but this year Ellie wants to incorporate Halloween with her favorite, a Monster High birthday party complete with Monster High costumes.

Of course, Ellie wants to be her favorite character, Draculaura, and she was super excited when her costume arrived from Costume SuperCenter.

We have ordered costumes from Costume SuperCenter in the past. The costumes are reasonably priced and quality made. The Draculaura costume is no exception. This is the type of costume that can be used over and over with no worries of seams ripping or things falling apart after wearing for one Halloween. It will definitely go in the dress up box or I may even put it up for my younger daughter to wear when she’s bigger.

Ellie has sensory issues pertaining to various fabrics, lace in particular. She refuses to wear the little lace capelet, so we opted to add a black shirt underneath instead.

My only big complaint with the Draculaura costume is the wig that is included. The wig that was pictured is completely different than the wig we received.

Even though the wig is completely different, it could have worked…if it had been the right size. The wig we received is so large that no amount of wig tape is going to hold it in place where it’s supposed to be. Maybe she just has a small head, right? Well, she does, but both my sister-in-law and I tried the wig on, and it was too large for both of us adults, too. I’ll have to purchase another wig that fits more appropriately.

Although the wig is disappointing, the costume itself is super adorable, and my daughter can’t wait to show off her Draculaura costume at her Monster High Birthday bash and on Halloween. Now I’m off to find myself a Clawdeen Wolf costume!

Have you chosen your costume (or your kids) for Halloween? What are you dressing as this year?

  1. Very cute! I love the pink and black.

That is strange about the wig being so big. She looks adorable and I think the black tee shirt looks better!!

  3. I have a niece that would really like this costume.
