Easy Budget Friendly Pumpkin Trunk or Treat Theme

Will you be participating in a Trunk or Treat or taking your kids to one? I’ve been to plenty of Trunk or Treats with my kids, but this is the first year I will be participating in not one but two!

When I started searching for Trunk or Treat ideas I quickly discovered something. Most of the themes I like are way too expensive to pull off!

I don’t have a ton of money to spend, so I have to budget wisely, especially considering the fact I have to decorate my car twice. Plus there’s the fact that I have an SUV, so that means it will take more decorations! I decided to pick a theme that’s super easy to do, budget friendly, and can be used more than once.

Simple right?

My go to online retailer for all things related to party and holiday decorations really came in handy on this one. I decided to create a Pumpkin Trunk or Treat theme out of items from Oriental Trading. It was super easy to do with over 400 new Halloween themed items on Oriental Trading’s site.

The Pumpkin theme is cute and functional for the school Trunk or Treat as well as the church organized one that doesn’t allow “scary” themes. Of course I couldn’t wait until the Trunk or Treats arrive to put it all together. I just had to set it up to share with you guys.

Best of all, I created my Pumpkin Trunk or Treat theme for under $75, and almost everything can be reused again for the next Trunk or Treat or even Halloween decor. I can even use the pumpkins for our Fall themed party!

Everything I use is available from Oriental Trading.

  • 2 Black Pleated Table Skirts
  • 2 Orange Plastic Tablecloths
  • 1 Black Plastic Tablecloth
  • 1 Tissue Paper Halloween Bunting
  • Jumbo Pumpkin Cutouts (50 pcs)
  • Tissue Paper Pumpkin Decorations (6 pcs)

Kids get so much candy at Halloween, so I enjoy throwing other things in the mix. For the school sponsored Trunk or Treat I decided Halloween themed school supplies would be great. Oriental Trading has tons of super cute school supplies, so I chose a big bag of Halloween pencil top erasers, mini notebooks, crayon packs, stickers, and pencils.

I added the Ghost Dart Board and Silly Pin the Nose on the Pumpkin game (with reusable adhesive putty on the nose pieces) to give the kids something fun to do while waiting on the line to move. Our church Trunk or Treat is much smaller with a lot of toddlers, so I ordered the Funny Face Stickers Decorating Kit for the younger kids who are too young for the games. The pumpkin cutout kit comes with so many pumpkins in different sizes that I have plenty left over they can decorate!

Now that I’ve put my Pumpkin Trunk or Treat theme together I can’t wait for the real Trunk or Treats to arrive. I think the kids are going to have a blast, and I look forward to seeing all the smiles on their faces.

Do you have a great Trunk or Treat theme? I would love to hear about it!
