Invisalign to the Rescue for Straight Teeth

Disclaimer: This is a sponsored post. However, all thoughts and opinions are my own as always.

As the mom of a teen with crooked teeth and an overbite we know she will need braces. She’s worn a spacer for years to prepare her for braces which was painful and caused a dent in her mouth after removal. Now we’re looking for an alternative for metal braces since she’s concerned about being called brace face and other names. Plus it’s really important to get her teeth looking good already.
Daughter Hiding Her Teeth - Invisalign

Since Invisalign uses clear aligners that are practically invisible, my daughter feels relieved that she won’t be made fun of. We are in the process of visiting a second orthodontist who continually says that my daughter isn’t ready for braces since her teeth aren’t kept clean enough. Both are also is against Invisalign because they say that Invisalign causes teeth to return to their crooked state as before, but that’s a myth.

The Pros Of Invisalign

After learning that Invisalign works just as well as metal braces, I am now considering them for my daughter. Some of the pros:

  • The cost is almost the same as regular braces. Find out by using the cost calculator.
  • If you have a Flexible Spending Account, it can cover the cost as well.
  • Since teens are prone to lose things, especially my daughter, Invisalign provides up to 6 replacement aligners. Woo hoo!
  • You can eat anything, corn on the cob, popcorn, caramel apples, etc. Just remove the the aligner first.
  • Instead of molds, which my daughter is terrified of, many orthodontists use a technology called iTero® digital scanning system. Finding an Invisalign orthodontist in your area and one who uses iTero® is easy. Just use the doctor locator.
  • You can even try the smile assessment to see if Invislign will work for you. Please note this is not you still need to visit an orthodontist, but it’s a start.

Personally I’m considering Invisalign as an alternative for regular braces for myself as well because my teeth have shifted since years of metal braces during my teens. Fingers crossed!

Invisalign Straight Teeth

My daughter has a fear of the dentist and orthodontist. With Invisalign there are less visits because there are no worries about tightening regular braces and those extra aligners are given in advance.
