Sonic Summer Shakes Should Stay #SummerofShakes

Sonic, who gave me a gift card for this post,  is always updating their menu items. Their Summer Shakes trio – Chocolate Covered Jalapeño, OREO Peanut Butter and Salted Caramel – are on the menu now. I know it sounds odd, but the Jalapeño shake is the real deal. It’s not a joke like their Kale Cream Pie Shake (April Fools!).

Sonic’s shakes are made with real ice cream and are hand-mixed. And like the Kale shake, I’m not into the spicy Chocolate Covered Jalapeno shake. But, the others…give them to me now! As a fan of milk shakes I’ve become an aficionado. Sonic stands up there with the best of the best.

Sonic Summer Shakes

Salted Caramel Shake

Some of the best shakes I’ve had were made at candy stores in the Bronx years ago. Like the old soda jerks, each shake was made behind the counter right before your eyes. The only flavors were chocolate and vanilla. Strawberry came along, but it was from flavored milk.

Sonic brings back those memories and adds that extra twist of flavor choices. I can’t count them all but there has to be one or more favorites for everyone. For those older than me the servers on roller skates may remind you of the carhops in the 1950’s. I promise that Sonic is all that and a bag of tater tots.

Maybe you’ll be braver than me and try the Chocolate Covered Jalapeño. Either way, enjoy one or more of Sonic Summer Shakes. Save money – At participating Sonic locations you can buy one shake and get one free after 8 PM.

What shake do you like?
