Fight Toxins with Seventh Generation #FightToxins

This is a sponsored post by Seventh Generation. All opinions are my own.

We are bombarded with toxins, poisonous substances, in our homes, in our water, in the air and in the products we use every day. Seventh Generation is working to reform a law will protect us against toxins. Along with this brand we can get involved with their work to fight toxins.

Seventh Generation is a green company whose products are environmentally safe, are made with plant based ingredients and are never tested on animals. They foster a community to influence customers and other brands to be kind to the earth and to people. Their work to reform Toxic Substances Control Act, the Toxin Freedom Fighters is a perfect example of Seventh Generation’s mission.

Fight Toxins

The TSCA was passed in 1976 but has never been updated. Even though we can agree that toxins are dangerous to our health and to our environment, this “broken law” allows chemicals to be used and abused. Even the Environmental Protection Agency can do almost nothing to stop this, whether these toxins are known to cause cancer for example. Testing for the safety of chemicals and disclosure of toxins are other issues that are left unenforceable.

Seventh Generation is working to reform the TSCA with a goal of 100, 00 signatures on their petition. I have already signed it because of what I’ve learned from Seventh Generation and from the Natural Resources Defense Council.

Fight Toxins

As a young person, I wasn’t aware of how toxins affected me. I knew a bit about pollution because of Earth Day. During my first pregnancy, about 28 years ago I only knew that I couldn’t drink alcohol, smoke or do drugs. Later on I began to learn more about chemicals in food. The first I can remember is one of the red dyes. But when my daughter was born 15 years ago more information was being reported. Some plastic toys and bottles contained BPA, laundry detergents contained numerous toxins (Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid) and pesticides were dangerous to our health.

I worry about the future of my daughters and my grandson. What harm have toxins already done to them? What will continue to happen to the earth because of the use of dangerous toxins? I don’t know, but I want a way to stop the damage and to allow people to make decisions based on knowledge they have a right to know.

Reforming the Toxics Substance Control Act will help fight toxins. Won’t you help? Educate others, sign and share the petition and stay updated.
