New Chapter in Life

When a new year starts, I like to think of it as a new chapter in my life. It’s an opportunity to work on me both personally and professionally. Another area that needs improvement is my relationships, especially with family members.

I don’t do resolutions, instead I do goals. They are not overwhelming. Writing my goals on my blog makes them permanent. It is as if I’m asking you to help me be accountable in reaching them. Will you?

Goals Quote

2013 Life Chapter Goals:

  • Say no more often. I overextend myself by taking on more than I can handle workwise and personally.  I will be choosy about who I work with instead of accepting every sponsored post or product review that comes my way.
  • Be open to adventures, especially when traveling. Although I am fearless when I go on trips with my family, I want to travel solo this year (even if it just a flight on my own) and with online friends.
  • Keeping the boundaries I have with specific family members with less guilt. Taking on responsibilities to help my family is OK, but not to the point where my mental and physical health suffer.
  • I must take care of myself better. Putting off doctor appointments, not taking my medications properly and staying up late all affect my health. Since I have multiple chronic illnesses, I need to put my health as a priority. I will eat healthier and see a physician when I don’t feel well. I will keep track of my checkups.
  • Don’t procrastinate. When I put things off it only increases my stress level. I used to use an editorial calendar and a personal calendar. Now I will combine the two to stay on top of things.
  • Do more of what makes me happy. I was concerned that I would lose my readers when I changed my blog niche from product reviews and giveaways to parenting. But writing about parenting and social issues is what I love to do. I’ll keep on doing that, especially as a member of the Global Team of 200.
  • Keep on learning. I have been giving up too easily on subjects that are challenging, like SEO. This year I will keep an open mind about new lessons and accept my mistakes.

Happy 2013! I hope that you are open to a new chapter in your life. What goals have you set for yourself?

  1. I identify with a lot of these goals, and remember when I moved from being a review blogger to a parenting/lifestyle blogger. I did it by creating a new blog and I was very worried about how the transition would go. It was wonderful and I’m in a much happier place now.

    Welcome to your next chapter.

  3. Happy New Year to you Connie!

My goal has been to spend less time online and more time doing ‘real’ things. I think that has been my goal the last couple of years 🙂 So far so good but then again it is only 1/4 and I will likely cave later on.

  4. Those are great goals. I hope you accomplish them, especially taking care of your health.
