Some of the most beautiful water I’ve seen was on a trip to Hawaii. The Pacific Ocean is what I envision paradise to be. But for almost 884 billion people the only water they see is dirty water. That means they don’t have access to clean water to drink, to cook with, to bathe, and to flush with. Water.org is working to change this.

I am surrounded by beautiful, clean, clear water. I use it in my home and never have to worry about it running out. Drinking water is so abundant that I can buy bottled water. The loads of laundry I do even amaze me. My family and I take showers each day – hot or warm. We have a choice.
When we drive I can see pristine water from bridges. The beaches near me are kept clean and you swim without fear of getting sick. Manatees are plentiful when water temperatures are low.
Now picture yourself in India. Instead of walking to your refrigerator to get a drink of water, you (mainly women and children) have to walk and then wait in line to fill up containers of clean water.
Although access to drinking water has improved, the World Bank estimates that 21% of communicable diseases in India are related to unsafe water. In India, diarrhea alone causes more than 1,600 deaths daily—the same as if eight 200-person jumbo-jets crashed to the ground each day.
Where is their opportunity to see and use beautiful water? Water.org is working with partners in needy areas (not just in India) to find solutions to the growing problem of dirty water. They invite communities to take ownership of projects to build and maintain new water systems. And they do it well.

Dear Connie,
In all honesty, I see the tragic consequences for so many without clean water, there is very little clean water anywhere in the world. Here in the US our water is dirty, albeit not as dirty and certainly drinkable, but for how much longer. The eartH’s water problem(s) must be solved in order for humans (animals) to survive. Same can be said about the air and the soil.
Let’s cleanse her of our foul use…
