Skype Makes Life Easier

I’m the kind of person who gravitates toward new technology, but for some reason after using Skype for instant message chats, I was pretty much done with it. I didn’t see how it would make my life easier. Once in a while, I’d be invited to a group chat for business. It worked well, but the need to type everything was time consuming.

Then I began working with someone who lived in England. He disliked emails and wanted to use Skype to save money on international phone calls. I told him that I didn’t have a headset. Not a problem. I could hear him through my laptop speakers and my laptop mic worked well on his end. What a time saver and life saver.

Now as an ambassador for Skype through Mom Central, I became a Skype Premium subscriber which offers more uses than Skype for free. It makes my life easier as a businessperson and helps me forge better relationships and continue those already in my life. I can’t wait to make use of this service more often.

Some of the features of this enhanced version of Skpe are:

  • Unlimited calls to US and Canada – (A fair use policy applies. Excludes special, premium and non-geographic numbers. Mobile calls to selected countries only.)
  • Group video calling – three or more people in the group with up to a maximum of 10. Only one person needs Premium Skype. (For the best quality, Skype recommend calls with five people or fewer. A fair use policy applies to group video calling.)
  • No partner advertising (In some countries Skype display adverts from partners. These are not seen by customers with Skype Premium.)
  • Group screen sharing – share your screen with family, friends, business partners, etc.

Just recently, I used Skype Premium to make a group video call with my cousins in Canada. We were already emailing each other, but there’s nothing like seeing them and their children in real time. Sure, I’ve seen photos, but seeing the gestures they make, the similar faces we make when we laugh and the opportunity to be together online as if we were really together in person was priceless.

A few days ago, I video chatted with one of my blogger friends to discuss a Twitter party.  When I told her about my Skype Premium subscription, we planned to use the group screen sharing for some presentations that we’ve been discussing. Instead of using an online group presentation service, Skype Premium comes to the rescue.

It’s helpful to stay in touch with Skype on Facebook for their community input, to learn about new features and to hear about Skype in the news.

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Skype. I received Skype credits to facilitate my review and a promotional item to thank me for participating. This blog uses affiliate links.
