Changes at Magic Kingdom in Disney World

There’s lots of changes going on at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World. Most of them are happening in Fantasyland, where the an expansion is set to be completed by 2013. Most of the updates are focused on the Disney princesses, who will have their own storybook lands. Dumbo the Flying Elephant will have two rides to lessen waiting and the surrounding area will be named Storybook Circus. Sadly, Snow White’s Scary Adventures will be closing on May 31st to make room for Princess Fairytale Hall.

During our visit to the Magic Kingdom today we took some photos to share of the changes and of Snow White’s ride. I’ve posted two here:

The updated Barnstormer was open today, but the line was too long. Plus, we were busy playing the new game, Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom! You have to try this game out! Surprisingly, with Spring Break going on in many parts of the US, the Magic Kingdom was crowded more than normal, but there were not many long lines.

And more excitement ahead this week – I’m all ready to go on the Disney Fantasy Inaugural Cruise on Friday, March 23rd. I’m just waiting on the final approval from my doctor after a kidney test that I had last week. So along with the changes at the Magic Kingdom, I’ll be able to share photos and information about the Fantasy with you soon.

  1. Thank you for sharing updated photos Connie! I can not wait to try Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom with the boys. I know they are going to love it. I did not realize you were going on the Fantasy – have a magical time (I’m confident you will get the ok to go).

    • Happy to share the photos. I wish there were more, but my husband and daughter don’t have the patience. While we were playing Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom, two CM’s were working on it. There weren’t any problems, but they were making sure that things were going well. It was a lot of fun, Beth.

  2. Nice to know about the changes of Magic Kingdom, at least we will see something new.

  3. I am REALLY hoping to get back to Disney World. By the time I do, all these changes will hopefully be made and we’ll be able to enjoy them!!

  4. I am so excited for these changes! We will miss the classic Snow White ride of course, but the new storybook areas will be so great! Last year at Disney Social Media Moms, we kept trying to peer over the wall while on Dumbo – to see how things were looking! :)
