Turtle World is an app for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. This animated game features Fred the turtle who is seeking adventure, but faces enemies at every turn. Fortunately Frank can use his shell and other powers to fight back with your help, of course.
Fun for both children and adults, Turtle World uses Physics-based arcade action, which means that you tilt your device to play the game. This is the first time I’ve tried this type of game and it is different! And you can choose to play by holding your device (even over your head) or keeping it flat on a table top, for example.
When you tap on Frank he throws his shell at those pesky enemies who want to keep him from exploring the world. Once that shell is gone (and boy can that thing bounce), Frank is a nekkid turtle. So you need to grab his shell back quick. But, Frank has other ways of protecting himself . You can power him up by eating lettuce and finding special snails. Eat enough lettuce and Frank gets a spiked shell. A blue snail allows Frank to fly with wings and all. Turtle World has 8 powerups and more to come.
Be careful of losing Frank’s shell if it’s hidden behind the bushes or in the dark. As you move along in the game, you’ll learn what can trick you up. And the farther along in the game you go, the harder it is to keep the enemies away from Frank and the more obstacles to be wary of. Turtle World has five fully interactive worlds. With your guidance, Frank will continue to be the adventurer he dreams of.
This is an addicting game, where you’ll continue to try to master the more difficult change-ups. The music can get annoying after about 3 plays though. Thank goodness for the option to turn it off. The cuteness factor and the easy to start up, hard to master reality have me hooked.
Created by PlaySnack, Turtle World is available in the iTunes store for 99 cents.
