Send Cheer to Military with Cheerios and Help USO

On Veteran’s Day, I’m honored to tell you about the Send Cheer campaign with Cheerios that supports the military, their families and the USO at the same time. Specially marked boxes of Cheerios feature “Cheer” postcards. These post cards will be given to military families to show how much Americans are thankful for their sacrifices. For each postcard received, Cheerios will donate $1 to the USO.

Cheerios Cheer BoxDetails of the Cheerios Cheer Campaign:

  1. Look for specially marked boxes of Cheerios – on the front of the box, you’ll see a cutout of a postcard around the letters “Cheer” in Cheerios
  2. Cut out the card
  3. Write a personal note – encourage our military families by letting them know you care about them, thank them for all that they do, support them by ensuring them that you’re in your thoughts and prayers. A picture drawn by your child will cheer them up.
  4. Put a stamp on it – all that’s needed is a stamp since the postcards are pre-adressed to the USO
  5. Cheerios will donate $1 for each postcard received to the USO. A donation of $150,000 has already been made. Cheerios will donate up to another $100,000 by November 30, 2012. (more than one year from now!)
  6. The special Cheerios boxes will be in stores until the end of this month, though. So, stock up while you can.

Our Military Members and their Families

As the daughter and wife of a veteran, I know personally how much those in the military give of themselves. The stress of the unknown, the fear during active duty and the sadness of families being apart can take a toll.  Now, with more than 1.4 million active duty members in the U.S. military and the many deployments, military members and their families need us now more than ever.  They are supported by more than 3.6 million family members and more than 70% of our military members have children. Families left behind are often faced with hardships. Spouses and significant others have to take on the role of a single parent, while worrying about their loved one. Let’s all do this one small act of giving thanks and showing support by sending at least one Cheerios Cheer card.

The USO

The United Services Organization – USO – is a nonprofit that has been around for 70 years. It’s goal is to lift the spirits of the American military and their families. Known for their entertainment, the USO also has centers that provide the tools needed for military families to cope with moving to a new location, dealing with difficult times and provides free dinners to families when their income is low.

Salute our military and their families with Cheerios Cheer Program. Share this with your family and friends. And make the simple, but moving step of sending a postcard to thank our military and help the USO.

I wrote this review while participating in a campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Cheerios and received product samples to facilitate my review and a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to post.
