Tonsillectomy Finally Happening For Real

Sammi is finally having her tonsillectomy today…for real. She’ll have her tonsils and adenoids removed and a culture taken of her sinuses. The doctors have decided to keep her overnight at the hospital because of the cardiac issues and the diagnosis of narcolepsy. Instead of being upset about it, she is actually relieved.

Since she’s been anxious about the procedure for the last few days, it is probably best that she be monitored at the hospital. With anxiety, her heart rate can go up. Not having fluids also can increase her heart rate. We don’t want a problem with sinus tachycardia while we’re over an hour away from All Children’s where her specialists are located.

All Children's Hospital

My husband and I are able to spend the night with her in her hospital room. We have our own bed and our own TV, plus a small refrigerator. Sammi is excited about having her own TV which is connected to a game system with a large selection of video games. I didn’t have the heart to tell her that she probably will be discharged before she’ll feel like playing games, but I’m praying that I’m wrong.

Please take the time to think of her or say a prayer. We really appreciate it. I’ll try to update about her condition on Twitter and Facebook if I am able to use my cell phone.

I’m sending good thoughts your way.

My daughter (5) had her tonsils & adenoids out in July after being diagnosed with severe sleep apnea. Almost immediately after her surgery I could tell a marked improvement in her health and quality of sleep.

I hope Sammi recovers quickly and the procedure resolves her issues.

Like usual I tweeted at ya but did read this but didnt comment!

I am hoping Sammi is doing better now, and is back to her usual self. Do they still do the ice cream and pudding to make it seem not so bad?

Tonsils out bring back the memories- way back in the 60s we had a Dr that would yank out tonsils at the drop of a hat. One brother had tonsils and adnoids out and not a month later, myself, and 2 younger brothers were in the SAME hospital room recovering. My Mom was going bananas- thinking back, I dont know how she stayed together- she worked, had 3 kids and 3 of us were in the hospital!
