Happy Anniversary to my daughter, Alicia and her husband, Scott. Two years already! I wrote about the wedding preparations and shared the wedding photos with you, my dear readers. So why not celebrate with us?
Two years ago, we were planning a wedding long distance. I’m in Florida and my daughter is in Kansas, where the wedding would be held. Thank goodness for the internet! We were able to share websites and photos easily. And our phone calls were filled with talk of wedding cake, bridesmaid dresses, and wedding venues. Alicia did come for a visit so we could go to Bridal shops. I just had to be there when she chose her wedding dress, but she ended up changing her mind and getting one closer to home. She shared the photos with me and at least I got to see her trying on those dresses!
So much emotion during that time – a mixture of stress, joy and I have to admit, some fear too. It’s not easy when your child is getting married, Moms. I’ll warn you now. But, it’s moments and they pass quickly, especially when you know how happy your child is. And it’s even better, when you know they’ve made the right choice.
That time of sharing ideas and getting to know my daughter’s dreams and wishes are cherished by me. Scott was involved in the planning too, so I got to see his serious side and how much he loved my daughter. He wanted this wedding to be perfect – to showcase their love, their family and their friends.
When the day came, it was more than I ever expected. Their personalities shown through in the decor, the food, every detail. The ceremony was lovely, with beautiful vows. The reception was filled with good food, dancing and fun. And I was the Mother of the Bride, with tears in my eyes (happy tears).
Alicia and Scott have had two years of married life. They’ve moved, changed jobs, got new pets, own their own home, gained new friends and traveled. They love life….together. And it shows!
