My Daughter Is Visiting From Kansas

My wonderful daughter, Alicia is visiting from Kansas for a few days. There’s nothing like having her back home. Although she’s 24 and married, I get to spoil her, hug her whenever I want, watch her sleep, buy her stuff, cook for her and watch her and Sammi get along as if they aren’t 12 years apart and don’t live over 1000 miles away.

Too Long to Wait

The last time I saw her in person was during our visit to her home in Kansas at Christmas time. That’s way too much time to wait. If Sammi wasn’t having health problems, I’d be on a plane every few months. But, that’s how life goes. We stay in touch by phone and Facebook and talk about the time that we can be together again.

Our Plans

While Alicia is here, she’s written a list of things to do and we’ll do our best to get each one checked off. The most important thing is not what we’re doing, but that we’re together. Thursday she arrived, so we went to the Cheesecake Factory for lunch. The rest of the day we spent at home catching up.

Today we went out to breakfast, did some shopping and made dinner together. Tomorrow we’re going to get manis and pedis and try to spend some one on one time together. For Father’s Day, we’re hoping to go to see the Tampa Bay Rays play and be all together as a family. My husband has had to work unfortunately.

My Daughter

Each time I spend time with my daughter, I’m amazed by her maturity. She’s always been a wise soul, but when I’m apart from her and then see her again, it’s as if I’ve never known. Her goals and plans assure me. Her outlook on society, her community and her family and friends inspire me.  And I wish that she could be here with me all the time. But then I realize that she’s happy where she is and that life is helping to continue to form her, to help her grow to be a more loving and kind person. And that Kansas is her home. Her husband and her family is there. And I wait for the next visit with my beautiful daughter.

  10. You seem to have raised your daughter very well. It’s nice to see parents and their children remain close even though the children have grown up and have families of their own already. You must have had a great time with your daughter.
