Childrens Hospital and My Awkward Moment

Childrens Hospital is a parody of medical TV shows like Grey’s Anatomy and House. One episode is based on one doctor professing her love of another doctor, creating an awkward friendship.

My awkward moment happened in a hospital too. At the time, it wasn’t funny, but looking back on it now, I can laugh. And have the guts to share it with you. I was hospitalized for a possible stroke. I had one of the most painful headaches ever so my husband brought me to the emergency room. As a precaution, I was given a CT scan. It showed a slight problem even though I didn’t have symptoms of a stroke. So I had to stay overnight to be monitored.

I was told I had to use a bedside commode and ask for help when getting out of bed for anything. Because I’m so stubborn and was so tired, I had my husband shut my door when he left for the night. Thank goodness I had the room to myself. There was no way I was using a commode! So as soon as I had to relieve myself, I got out of bed and went to the bathroom in my room. Of course, just then a nurse came in. There I was sitting on the toilet thinking how smart I was, when she called out to the other nurses, who I swear were in collusion with her, to get in my room STAT.

A gang of them, stood there, watching me, um… relieve myself. I was at the point where I couldn’t stop. They didn’t look away while I cleaned myself, in fact I think they stared even more. Then the first nurse came into the restroom and grabbed me under my arms to help me up from the toilet. Another came to help her, walk me back to the bad. I swore they were snickering.

I was read the riot act while they all watched. I kept thinking, don’t they have other patients to take care of? Now I think about Childrens Hospital and how all of the medical staff has time for flirting, their personal lives and sex, so maybe that’s what really goes on the break room of hospitals? 😉

Childrens Hospital DVDIf Childrens Hospital sounds like your kind of show, you can find it on the Cartoon Network, during Adult Swim. It’s not animated, but is funny to the core. Adult situations and language are included. The first 2 episodes are now out on DVD as well.

I have been hired by Warner Bros. WBWord division to promote Childrens Hospital Season 1&2 on DVD. You can purchase a copy at Amazon.com

  1. Every now I turn to Adult Swim, I will have to watch for this show!

(shhhh I wont tell anyone about the peeing incident!)

  2. I worked in hospitals for many years before launching my website. And I have to say that the only thing we ever did in an on-call room or employee lounge was sleep and watch TV. You know, boring stuff…
