Kellogg’s Share Your Breakfast program’s goal is to help feed hungry kids in America – one million breakfasts by the beginning of the 2011 – 2012 school year. Kellogg’s will donate up to $200,000 – the equivalent of one million school breakfasts. And with one simple act, you can help too. Each “share’ equals one breakfast for a needy child.
How To Share Your Breakfast
- Share A Photo – Take a photo of your breakfast and upload it on the Kellogg’s Share Your Breakfast website
- Share A Description – Write a sentence about what you had for breakfast and add to the same website
- Text – Text the word SHARE with a photo or a description of your breakfast to 21534
- It doesn’t matter what type of breakfast. Just grab a camera and take a photo. As you can see I didn’t even cook my breakfast!
- You can share your breakfast until July 31, 2011
The Statistics About Hungry Kids
Kellogg’s is working with Action For Healthy Kids, a nonprofit agency who is working towards ending childhood obesity and undernourishment by helping schools provide healthier meals and teaching our kids to learn to eat right, be active every day and be ready to learn.
According to national statistics, 17 million children are living in food insecure households. Shockingly, that means 23 percent of children in this country are impacted by hunger! And of those kids, a staggering number simply are not getting the food and proper nutrition they need to grow and do well in school.
Do you see this where you live? Do you know that hungry children live at home? Hungry children are not only homeless children.
….nearly one in four kids in this country live in households where there’s no guarantee breakfast will be on the table from day-to-day.
Look around you. Can you tell which children are hungry? Imagine a child going to bed hungry and going to school hungry.

I’ve seen hungry children first hand in a Title One school that my daughter attended. It is heartbreaking to know that they have to live this way, but when people step in to help it can change. We can be the ones to help Kellogg reach their goal of 1 million breakfasts donated by sharing our breakfasts.
I’m being compensated by Kellogg and The MotherHood for my time to share this information and take part in the Virtual Breakfast. All opinions are my own.

Since it is now 2pm, I will have to wait until morning to share my breakfast … photo anyway. This is really a cool way to bring attention to a worthy cause though.

I think I see more help the children around the world causes than I do help the children in the US. Don’t get me wrong, Im all for helping children around the world but find it hard to send money elsewhere when we are suffering so much here in the US ourselves. Share those breakfast photos!

My breakfast this morning was a bowl of corn flakes, milk and sugar subst, with peanut butter, coffee and a whole wheat toast. And the peanut butter if for the toast and corn flakes. With coffee.
And I’d like to add my thanks for helping the kids.

Wow, 1 in 4 kids do not get breakfast each day? Breakfast is key for fueling your brain for a great day at school.
Good info and great cause.
