I had the pleasure of spending a weekend at the Marriott Residence Inn in Clearwater, Florida. Marriott’s extended stay hotels, where every room is a suite, Residence Inns, offer a full kitchen, free wifi and free breakfast every day. I was one of three bloggers who won a weekend stay after taking part in a Residence Inn for family vacations campaign this past summer with Mom Central.
My mother and I stayed the weekend at the Residence Inn in Clearwater/St. Petersburg Florida. When we first arrived, we weren’t sure why there was a hotel in this specific location. There wasn’t anything close by for tourists, in fact the hotel was located on somewhat of an industrial street. We soon learned though, that the St. Petersburg Airport was nearby and that about 30 minutes away were the beaches. The hotel has an outdoor pool and basketball/tennis court on well manicured grounds.
We were met by Sarah at the front desk, when we checked in, who helped us with our luggage since we had to walk up two flights of stairs to our room. Our room was a two bedroom suite with two stories. We settled in right away and then took a short tour of the hotel. This was a comfortable place for families to vacation who didn’t want to spend the money on beach hotel rates. Having a room with a full kitchen would allow you to prepare meals or keep snacks to bring to the beach. During the week (Monday – Thursday) there’s a social hour with snacks and drinks. The lobby area where you eat breakfast provides a place to meet the other guests. Residence Inn also provides free grocery shopping and DVD players. You can hide away in your room and make it a romantic night if you’d like.
The staff was friendly and helpful, answering questions and giving directions to restaurants and beaches. Although this Residence Inn was an older building, it was going through a remodel, with work being done during the week and kept to specific areas so guests can stay away from the noise (as much as possible).
We enjoyed our breakfast both mornings, slept well in our rooms and were shocked at the amount of closet and storage space. On our way out, we noticed the beautiful lake in the back and wished that we would have had more time to spend there. But, there’s always next time.
I won this weekend stay at the Residence Inn from Mom Central. I was not expected to write a post, but did so because I wanted to share my experience with my readers.

It looks like a really nice place, and I am glad you had an awesome time. What a nice little gift from Mom Central!
I’ve been surfing on-line more than 3 hours today, yet I never found any attention-grabbing article like yours. It¡¦s pretty price sufficient for me. Personally, if all site owners and bloggers made just right content as you probably did, the internet will probably be a lot more helpful than ever before.
