Good Humor ice cream used to be delivered to my house every summer night. The ice cream truck would come down the street playing a tune that would be stuck in my head for most of my childhood. Then would come the screams, “Mommy, I need money for ice cream!” “I got a dollar to spend tonight!” “Lend me some money. I promise I’ll pay you back”.
I wasn’t able to get ice cream every night, but when I did my choice was a Chocolate Eclair from Good Humor. I’d savor that first bite, the crunchy outside, the cold vanilla ice cream and then the chocolate center. It was heaven! I’d keep the wrapper around it so that I could catch the crumbs that feel and eat every drop.
Some things never change: When I got a 6 pack of Good Humor Chocolate Eclair, it was hard not to open it in the store. But as soon as I came home, I tore open the box and relived my childhood memories. No, I didn’t savor it. I ate it up quickly, but I did keep the wrapper around it and ate those crumbs. And the taste was just as I remembered it.
Some things do: An ice cream truck may visit our street once in while, but now I can but Good Humor multipacks in grocery stores or big box stores. I can get individual Good Humor ice cream bars, sandwiches, etc. at convenience stores when I’m on the go and have a craving for them.
