Googly Bands Are The Rage And Contest Info

If you’re a parent of an elementary school age child, you already know about Googly Bands. They are the rage in my daughter’s school and she wears dozens of them on each arm every day. Just in case you’ve been under a rock, out of the country or out of the loop, Googly Bands are stretchable, collectible, tradeable, silicone bands that are worn as bracelets. They come is bags of 12 and in various types.

I received a bag of Summer and Sea Creatures Googly Bands, which were new to my daughter. And she was thrilled beyond belief! She thought I was the best mom ever and that blogging was the best job ever since I got these to review.

Googly Bands are a fun fad that I hope will last a long time. The bags are inexpensive and you can choose the type that you want. We’re fortunate that we can find them pretty easily right now, but I know that other areas go through times of Googly Band withdrawal. My daughter Sammi meets other children and they trade their bracelets. It’s a nice way to socialize.

Have your children take part in the Googly Bands Design Contest! Provide a new design for a Googly Band and email it as a jpeg file to “submissions@imptoy.com” by11:59 p.m. PT on July 18, 2010. The top 10 designs will be posted on googlybands.com where fans can vote on them. The top 3 will be chosen by votes. The grand prize winning design will be eligible for development and a $50 gift card.

Disclosure: Two bags of Googly Bands were provided for this review. All opinions are my own.

  1. At my 14 year old son’s school they were Silly Bands, which from the looks of things are similar. He actually asked me to ask them if we could review them, he loves them.

  2. My girls (4 and 12) are obsessed also. I think I have vacuumed a few of them since they are all over my house. They have fun trading them with friends and also give some away to friends that don’t have any. It is a nice lesson in sharing. I love a fad that is fairly cheap. 🙂
