Happy Mother’s Day!

Happy Mother’s Day to all of my blogging mammas! Whether you’re expecting, a grandmother, a stepmother, an adoptive mother, the mother of one or 10, or someone who’s taken on the role of mother without a title, you are to be honored today for all you do and give.

Moms take on many roles as a parent. We are cooks, organizers, doctors, nannies, housekeepers, matchmakers, dance instructors, historians, singers, authors, veterinarians and teachers. We’ve cleaned up puke, wiped off snot, lived through the most disgusting dirty diapers ever, broken up fights, tended to bumps, bruises, cuts and really scary illnesses. We’ve stayed up late to complete last minute school projects, bake cupcakes for school, tended to a child with a fever, finished up loads of laundry, worried about the choices one of children is making, cried when a child has left home or has hurt us deeply.

We lean on husbands, mothers, friends, church members, support groups, Twitter friends, blogging buddies, coworkers, God, a higher being, or ourselves. We’ve felt love until it feels like our hearts will explode. We’ve felt sadness until we’ve dropped to our knees. We’ve felt scared until we thought the world would end. But we never stop loving, giving, letting go, wrangling in, teaching, advising, praying, tending and guiding. That’s what mothers do and we continue on.

Take time out for yourself today. Get pampered, be spoiled and forget about cleaning or cooking. You deserve it.

Please, please, remember a single mother today. Treat her to lunch out with her children. Give her a restaurant gift card, or bring her along with you and your family. Hire a babysitter to take the kids away for a few hours. Leave a gift for her by her door with a card telling she’s doing a great job as a Mom. Let her know that she’s remembered and deserves a Happy Mother’s Day too.

  2. Wishing you a very happy Mother’s Day. I was taken out for breakfast by my hubby and my puppies. I also got a call from my youngest son first thing this morning. Didn’t hear from the oldest, but didn’t expect to, his internet service is really spotty over there in the desert! 🙂
    Hope yours was wonderful!

  3. This is a nice post and a great reminder to us to value the fantastic people our Mum’s really are! It’s funny, before reading this I sent my mother a mail telling her I thought she was amazing. Maybe even in the UK, Mother’s Day is having sime sort of subliminal effect!
