O’Bon offers eco-friendly stationery items, including pencils and notebooks. Have a mom who is green? One who still likes to write instead of always using a computer? Then think Mother’s Day gifts. O’Bon means “Oh Good” in French. They used this because of hearing the phrase, “Oh good, you use recycled materials”.
Pencils from O’Bon are made with recycled newspapers, are non-toxic, protected with the deeply wound newspaper so that even if dropped, the graphite rarely breaks, and they save trees because they’re not made from wood. Notebooks from O’Bon have beautiful covers, are non-toxic, made with soy-based inks and sugarcane paper. The sugarcane is called “bagasse” which is the the fibers left over after sugarcane is used to make sugar. Normally discarded but now recycled into paper for these spiral notebooks.
Children can purchase a notebook and colored pencils from O’Bon for a Mother’s Day gift focusing on their mom’s interest in the environment, in living a green lifestyle and in a focus on companies that give back. O’Bon is working with the Arbor Day Foundation to reduce forestation. With every purchase, O’Bon is making a donation to the foundation.
My Review: The O’BONanza Colored Pencil Pack is a delight. They feel sturdy in my hand and write beautifully. The colors are lovely and each pencil features a different fruit. I actually hate to sharpen them because I don’t want to lose any of the pencil! The OBONanza Strawberry Notebook is a nice, small size. It’s more like a diary and each page even has a space for the date. Lined pages and the yummy looking cover are the perfect added touch.
Purchase: The pencil pack with 12 colored pencils is $6 and the notebook with 80 pages is $5. There are regular pencils, binders and various designs to chose from.

My mother is big on composting. She keeps a small bucket in the kitchen and puts all food scarps in it. Egg shells, coffee grinds, potato peels etc… She then adds it all to her compost heap. In the spring she uses it as the soil to plant flowers. It’s not uncommon for tomato plants to sprout among her petunias.
My mom always writes down her recipes. she makes a lot of changes to perfect them so she keeps notes. Unfortunately, she writes them in German so I can’t understand them.

I like their O’BONanza A6 Notebook Kiwi. Nice picture, but it’d make me quite hungry if I had a class around lunchtime with this one.
My grandma liked to use those small tubs of margarine, and she saved every one she had. She probably had hundreds saved over the years, and would use them to share leftovers from our family get togethers.
