VeggieTales Pistachio DVD Review

Pistachio on DVD is a VeggieTales version of Pinocchio. The lesson taught is to listen to your parents, even if want they tell you seems unreasonable. The Silly Song from this DVD is “Where Have All The Staplers Gone”.

Chick-fil-A, Inc. is partnering with VeggieTales in a national promotion at their 1400+ restaurant locations with kids meal bags, VeggieTales CD premiums with videos, music and activities, coupons for $2 off the Pistachio DVD and in-store signs.  Chick-fil-A is also hosting VeggieTales Family Night parties in more than 400 restaurant locations.

Kroger and other major grocery chains will launch their first branded kids grocery carts, called “TVKart” which feature a video screen that shows VeggieTale songs and video clips, including Pistachio.

Frankford Candy & Chocolate Company will have VeggieTales branded Easter themed candies. Chuck E. Cheese, Gymboree and Crazy 8 are also featuring the Silly Song, “Where Have All The Staplers Gone”.

Sammi’s Review (age 11)

The movie starts with Gelato and a whole back story about himself, how he’s a toymaker and why he has three ducklings that he calls his children. I find it funny when they mention how they play Monopoly and how Greg (a duckling) is interested in real estate!  I got sort of confused though when Pistachio lied and his nose grew, but when he told the truth it didn’t shrink, but then I thought of copyright and stuff from Disney so I figured not to worry about that.  They had funny names, like one island was named Bouyardee from that pasta brand! Pistachio was made from Pistachio wood, and even the wood had thoughts of its own!  It’s basically a spoof of Pinocchio, with humor and a great lesson involved. I really enjoyed it, and considering my age, that’s saying something. Mentioning things like Monopoly, having an awkward moment with a disguise almost being ruined and a vegetable saying “Meow..?” is plenty of fun for me so I recommend getting this movie.
