Anissa’s Coming Home!

In case you haven’t heard the wonderful news already, Anissa Mayhew is coming home! Her husband, Peter wrote a blog post about getting ready for the big day and I suggest you read it in his words.

Anissa has been an inspiration to me since I met her on Twitter. She’s hilarious and had me hysterical numerous time. I didn’t know that she has faced her daughter Peyton’s cancer and been a health advocate since then.  Then I learned that she had a second stroke. I didn’t know about her first one. This one was bad news. She’s been in the hospital and a rehab center after this massive stroke. After being in a coma, she is at the point now where she can return home!

After all they’ve been through, now, they need financial help. You see Anissa still needs outpatient therapy. That has a copay of $100/day. Anissa deserves at least the 40 days her insurance will allow. She deserves even more. Please help out by donating what you can. $10 is awesome, but whatever you can handle is going towards getting our Anissa back. Just click on the image below to donate.

I didn’t [don't] know Anissa, but have followed her story since November. I’m so happy for her family and her that she is going home.

I, too, don’t know Anissa, but have been following the story since November and am so happy that she is going home to her family. I know they are so thrilled!
I am sickened by the state of healthcare in this country, but am so moved by the outpouring of love by the blogging community.

And it is such really great news for them. I just read Peter’s post, and he’s such a compelling writer! What a great ‘early birthday present’ for him to be able to come home with his wife. I agree with Lorie that America really should do better by its citizens with health care – and that it’s really touching how much people take care of their own when the government stands by and does nothing.
