Met Insurance Deductible
January 5th, 2010 by Connie RobertsToday we met our insurance deductible. The first day we visited one doctor for Samantha and whoosh it was done! She saw the allergist because she had to start a new vial for her allergy shots. Because we needed a new vial, we had to pay for that up front, for the doctor’s visit and for the shots.
The office was nice when they saw the amount of the bill, they offered for me to make payments. What was the sense? We had a dentist appointment next and my husband Shawn has a cardiologist appointment tomorrow. The bills will just keep coming in. We may end up meeting our family insurance deductible this week the way things are going.
As much as I don’t want to plunk down all that money, the quicker we meet the deductible the better. By October last year, we actually met our catastrophic deductible. After that we didn’t have to pay for anything. This is with a great medical insurance policy and with me having a secondary insurance. I pray that something gets done soon overhauling our health insurance in the United States. If this is an issue with us, can you imagine what it’s like for the unemployed, the disabled, those living in poverty?

I’m a wife and mom of two daughters. My daughters are 12 years apart so that keeps me quite busy and a little crazy at times. My life is a jumble of mixed up mishaps, but it’s always centered around my family.

Here in Connecticut, the disabled are all on Medicaid as are most of the elderly and everyone who has the slightest psychiatric issue. I see so much money wasted through these programs every day that I work with people needing rides to doctor’s appointments every day or going to the hospital daily that it’s no wonder the system doesn’t work. Every time I take a 911 call from the same intoxicated person I know that it’s my tax dollars – and yours, too – that are footing the bill for them to go to the Emergency Room once again just so they can sober up and go back out and do it again. It’s maddening.

omg, I know. Starting January 1, my husband’s health insurance through work – the portion we pay for – went up 32%. I wish our government would just do something already. It’s downright scary.
