Men Of A Certain Age Review
December 5th, 2009 by Connie RobertsMen Of A Certain Age is a new television show on TNT that will start on December 7th at 10PM/9 PM Central following The Closer. The stars of the show are Ray Romano of Everybody Loves Raymond, Scott Bakula of Quantum Leap and Andre Brougher of Homicide Life On The Street. The name of the show provides a glimpse of what the show is about – men who are in their 40′s facing how life is different from when they were younger and what lies ahead for them.
Joe (Romano) is a separated father of two who owns a party supply store but dreams of being a professional golfer. He is worried about his health and being a good guy, yet gambles too much. Terry (Bakula) is a single ladies man who worked as an actor but now is a temp. He seems to have it all, but is plagued with realizing that his acting career is over. Owen (Braugher) works with his father who owns a car dealership. He is married and has three children and can’t live up to his father’s expectations. He seems to be surrounded by stress.
They are good friends who have known each other since college. They are there for each other but still joke about the issues they all cope with. And that’s where the humor comes in. Although there is truth in so much of what you’ll see, this is not a depressing show.
The ironic part of Men Of A Certain Age is that women go through very similar issues as men. This should reach a broad audience because of this. When I watched a sneak preview of the show I actually laughed out loud, which is rare for any TV shows today. There’s no laugh track and that makes this viewer oh so happy.
I suggest you try this show out. Here’s a video to view so you can see how the three actors work together:
I was provided with a thumb drive of a sneak preview of this show from YouCastCorp.com There was no other compensation.

I’m a wife and mom of two daughters. My daughters are 12 years apart so that keeps me quite busy and a little crazy at times. My life is a jumble of mixed up mishaps, but it’s always centered around my family.

Almost feels like Sex & the City with men. I would probably enjoy this, but I don’t get TNT [we're cheap and don't pay for tv around here]. Maybe I can catch it at TNT online.

I think Ray Romano is hilarious so I expect great things for this show. I watched the sneak preview and it seems like it will more real life issues than Everybody Loves Raymond. It will be interesting to see what Men around the age of 40 deal with.

I think this show could be a hit, but it also is dangerously close to the books I saw when I was pregnant with my first child, the books for men. “How to deal with…”
My husband never opened any book I ever got him. This show might attract men, but I see it attracting wives and girlfriends and then they’ll say, ” oh, honey, this show would be great for you!”
I’d watch it though…

I’m really looking forward to this show – I love all three actors and from the video, it seems they’ve got great chemistry together. Hopefully it’s not one of those things where the trailer is better than the movie.

Would you believe that I watch so little TV that I don’t know whether TNT is a regular channel or on cable. I don’t subscribe to cable because I have too much to do online so who has time to watch TV anyway?
I do sometimes catch reruns of Quantum Leap and might check this out someday when it comes on regular television.

Well, I don’t expect I’ll see this show – we watch the news and discovery – oh and boxing or wrestling – LOL. Pop is rather set in his ways at 96
