• About

I’m a wife and mom of two daughters. My daughters are 12 years apart so that keeps me quite busy and a little crazy at times. My life is a jumble of mixed up mishaps, but it’s always centered around my family.

  • Fifth Grader Brings Knives To School

What a shock when I picked up my daughter from school yesterday. She told me that a fifth grader had brought 3 throwing knives to school. She had a letter from the principal to prove it. Along with the knives, he had a plastic toy gun that shot plastic darts. The letter went on to say that since the student’s safety was paramount, he was being considered for expulsion.

Never think this won’t happen to your children. With the recent murders of children here in Florida, this has been a time when parents are on alert. I am scared and angry. I’m also surprised that this hasn’t been in the news, not even the local papers here.

When the school board takes up this case, I hope that the child who brought the knives to school will be ordered to get psychiatric help and this his or her parents are investigated as well. Something seems to be amiss.

Yes, who would think of giving a 5th grader knives anyway? Parents have a problem!

Apparently this kid’s parents were not paying attention to what he’s been doing. Why on earth would he take knives to school? What was he thinking??

    3. A. @ A Changing Life Says:

I’m not sure what 5th grade is – 9 or 10 years old? It sounds so strange to have dangerous knives as well as a plastic toy gun. I wonder why anyone would have throwing knives anywhere a child could get them.

    4. Holly Says:

I could see why a 5th grader would take that type of thing to school. They think it’s cool and they really don’t know what there doing.

My question is where were the parents? Why didn’t they know what their 9-10 year old was putting in their backpack.

Who has throwing knives? Let alone around kids!
