Cancer Changes Everything
October 18th, 2009 by Connie RobertsThis past Friday, my Mom went for a biopsy of a axillary lymph node that was caught on her recent mammogram and subsequent ultrasound. We were confused by where it was located and what it meant, but of course followed the doctor’s orders. What a shock to learn just a few hours after her surgery that is was malignant. My Mom has cancer and everything has changed.
She recently turned 80 years old and looks about 60. In the past year or so, she has been slowing down a bit, but is still very active. I am extremely close to her. She lives less than a mile away and we see each other often. I am still in shock and so is she and the rest of our family.
Please keep her in your prayers. Her next doctor’s appointment is October 26th but we have decided to call tomorrow to see if we can do something earlier. We were told she will be going for a lot of tests so if we can get those started and get some answers it will help us a bit.
If I’m missing for a while, you’ll know that I’m by her side.

I’m a wife and mom of two daughters. My daughters are 12 years apart so that keeps me quite busy and a little crazy at times. My life is a jumble of mixed up mishaps, but it’s always centered around my family.

It’s funny how one little word can turn your entire life upside down. I remember when my Dad told us that he had cancer; it was like the world stopped spinning on its axis for a few moments and everything came to a screeching halt.
I’ll be thinking good thoughts and sending good wishes towards you and your mother. Hopefully this is something they’ve caught in time and she’ll be cancer-free before you know it.
Sending you a big hug.
