CONTEST ENDED. WINNER ANNOUNCED .*

My Secret Circle is a safe way for girls to play online with their friends. The product is called a “key” which fits into your USB port. It provides a secure online community where girls can only connect with unique ID codes. There is a lot of things girls can do on their community including creating a profile, uploading photos, play games and even instant message.

My 10 year old daughter spends a great deal of time online. I’ve allowed her to join some communities (after I’ve seen them) only to be sorry that I did so later on. Even though I have ingrained it in her to not give out any information about herself, she has inadvertently provided hints to old she is and where she lives. Then I have to give her the bad news that she is being removed from the group by me. With My Secret Circle, she is connected to girls we know and there’s no need to fear.

She’s been playing with My Secret Circle for a few days with a friend. So far she has:

  • Used the Diva Designer to create her own avatar. She was able to do her hair, facial features, clothing and even the smallest details including earrings and a peace sign.
  • Began a journal, which helps her maintain her writing and creativity skills. Plus this allows her to write about her feelings.
  • Uploaded photos and added some funny icons. She’s interested in learning about photography, so this will keep her maintain her interest.
  • Played puzzle and trivia games – plain old fun!
  • IM’d with her friend.

my-secret-circle-usbMy Review: My daughter likes being able to customize her profile and keeping her own virtual diary. She thinks the keychain is tiny and cute. She attached it to her backpack and told everyone about it. My Secret Circle was easy to use. All we had to do was plug it in and let it upload. When I saw the various profiles choices, I was pleased that there were all types. Since my daughter isn’t a “girly girl” she was able to choose clothing and accessories that fit her taste. I also have a unique idea for birthday presents for her friends so they can all connect on My Secret Circle.

Don’t have any little girls, but what a great spot and way for them to connect. So if I’m reading this right it is ONLY the other girls your child knows, yes? If this is so, it’s great. Being online is scary and strange enough, it’s great to think someone invented a way to safeguard your daughter and let her have massive amounts of fun! Great post :)

. Utilizing proprietary technology, the My Secret Circle Access Key™ contains an embedded code that is recognized by My Secret Circle’s™ private browser when connected to your computer. Because this unique code is located in a hardware solution; no personal information, registration or login is ever needed—and no one from the outside world can seek your child out.

There are a few things I like about this product alot. I love that it is both mac and pc compatible. The computer that my kids use the most is a pc but they occassionally use my laptop which isn’t so my duaghter could use this on either machine. I also like that you actually have to trade codes in person with a friend so you aren’t just befriend everyone that asks like people seem to do on myspace and facebook.

We do not store your password, so if you forget it and you cannot remember it or did not write it down, you must purchase another Access Key and start over again. (Drag! We suggest you write it down and give it to your parents or guardian so this doesn’t happen.)

How cool – according to the Help page, the user can read all of her past journal entries, sorted by month, and can delete any she doesn’t want anymore.
