Samantha is not into anything girly. It was pretty much torture for her to wear a dress to her sister’s wedding (she said that she’d sacrifice and wear it). So when we have a mother and daughter day, it’s not like we go shopping for clothes or get a manicure together. It usually is eating something out, catching a movie or buying something geeky.
Today was an exception though. I can’t share all the details because her friends read this blog, but let’s say that we spent most of our time together in a beauty salon. She did need her bangs trimmed so she’d be ready for school photos, but there was some other stuff that we had done too.
We also went to Publix for a few groceries and then to Subway where she got her favorite turkey sandwich and I got my $5 Cold Cut Footlong.
I’m not getting my hopes up that there will be more days like this. As a matter of fact it doesn’t even matter because we have fun together no matter what we do.

How nice. My 5 year old is “all girl” and she loves hair primping and nail polish, and accessorizing. Sigh, I’m just a plain ‘ol jeans and t-shirt girl, run a brush through my hair and I’m good to go. I’m glad you had fun. Saw your twitter about not being able to sleep and blog hopping. That is so sweet, Connie! I love a simple day out with one or both of my girls that does NOT involve shopping. Today, I’m taking my youngest out to lunch!

I definitely have to do this with my boys.
I was thinking about having some of that individual time with my boys at home since I don’t go out much.
I was thinking of teaching my boys some computer classes at home so that way they can learn while we are together.

I can’t believe her friends read your blog! Any time together is a good thing. My mom used to take me grocery shopping and let me pick out snacks and that was a big deal!
