• About

I’m a wife and mom of two daughters. My daughters are 12 years apart so that keeps me quite busy and a little crazy at times. My life is a jumble of mixed up mishaps, but it’s always centered around my family.

  • Table Manners Book Review

August 21st, 2009 by Connie Roberts

Table Manners by Mia King is actually the second in a series about her characters Deidre McIntosh and Kevin Johnson. I was able to read and enjoy this book though without reading Good Things , but being such a fan on Mia King’s writing, I’ll be on the look out for it next.

    From Amazon.com:

Deidre McIntosh finally has all the ingredients for a perfect life. She has her own line of cakes and cookies, and the perfect boyfriend, Kevin Johnson, one of Seattle’s top bachelors. Creative, energetic, and loving, Deidre is the person friends go to when they need a helping hand.

But when Kevin’s ex-fiancée, the sultry and successful magazine publisher Sabine Durant, suddenly appears in Seattle, it’s Deidre who needs help. Already intimidated by Kevin’s glamorous, moneyed world–and his sister, who wants Deidre out of Kevin’s life–she knows she’s no match for Sabine.

Deidre turns to her friends for advice, but finds they’re having crises of their own. When her business begins to slip from her fingers, Deidre knows she must to do something to keep her career and her love life from imploding. Can everyone’s favorite go-to person save herself?

table_mannersMy Review: I’m not new to Mia King’s books and after reading Table Manners I am now awaiting a new book from her.  One thing that Ms. King does is get you hooked from page 1. Her character development makes me feel as if I’m part of the story. I thought I had the ending figured out, but her twists and turns proved me wrong. Including food and lots of it in this delightful read, made it even more fun. I also enjoyed her mentions of blogs sprinkled throughout the book. And to add to my enjoyment, the recipes at the end of the book are mouth watering! Table Manners is not your ordinary romance book. Don’t get me wrong, it has romance, but it’s sexy and sweet without going over the line. Most of all, it has depth and I got pulled in and didn’t want to get out.

To Purchase: Table Manners is available on Amazon.com and in major book stores.

Awesome Information: Mia King has her own blog and is on Twitter. She runs contests and follows her readers!

Thanks to Family Review Network who provided the book for this review.

I’m such an idiot, I thought the book really was about table manners!

Looks like I have a new book to read. Hopefully my library has it.

(I also thought it was a book about table manners!)

Heh, I too thought the book had to do something with table manners, etiquette, or even cooking. Misleading title there.

The book does sound interesting though. I’ve never read anything from this author before so I’m going to have to see if I can’t check out her books from the library or something.
