Off To College

Samantha has about 8 more years to go before she’ll be off to college. There may be a long time left for Samantha to go, but I don’t think I’ll handle it when the time comes. It’s a natural thing for mothers to be concerned when their children go away to college. Most often it’s the first time away from home.

I wanted my daughter, Alicia (who’s in Grad school and married now) to feel comfortable when she was away at school. Packing up is so difficult. There’s so much to remember and too much to forget and it’s not like you can just go there and drop something off if you forget it.

With Sears CampusReady you can order what your college student needs online and then have them pick it up at a store near school. Just choose “Web2Store” at checkout. This helps save on packing and allows you both to go over the long list of things needed.

There’s even a CampusReady app on Facebook to help you design your dorm room. This way if your daughter wants a butterfly chair, you can check if it fits. (Be sure to check if microwaves are allowed as those are perfect for late night snacks.)

There’s a contest right now for money toward college tuition that is hosted by Sears and Upromise. Go to sears.com/campusready to enter and read the rules. Upromise members are automatically entered with a purchase from Sears online through the Upromise site.

My mom cried when I moved into my college dorm even though I was only 10 minutes from home!
