• About

I’m a wife and mom of two daughters. My daughters are 12 years apart so that keeps me quite busy and a little crazy at times. My life is a jumble of mixed up mishaps, but it’s always centered around my family.

  • John Chow Mentored My Daughter

August 13th, 2009 by Connie Roberts

Something amazing happened at Affiliate Summit East in New York City and it had to do with John Chow and my daughter. When the Summit was winding down, things were getting a little wild. My daughter and husband were both allowed into the Bloggers Lounge even though no children were allowed at the Summit and neither had a badge.

Peanut (aka Samantha) wanted to meet the bloggers, especially the famous John Chow. She walked over to him just as he was getting ready to rake in all the beer that was left over.  My always thinking daughter said, “When I grow up I want to be a blogger just like you.” John Chow smiled down at her and told her to buy her own domain using her real name, to get a twitter ID doing the same and to write about helping children bloggers. Unfortunately with our common name, that domain is taken.  Mike Wayne who won a pass to the Affiliate Summit  from John Chow and was there for the beer caper, suggested another domain name to Samantha, but again that name is taken.

With the attention and advice she got from John Chow, Samantha is thinking of what she wants to blog about and a name for her blog. She got a small taste of the Affiliate Summit and wants a lot more. After visiting NYC and doing some sightseeing and shopping, she also wants the money to be able to afford the finer things in life.

How exciting for you guys! Inspire them while they’re young – children often have the best ideas.

My daughter started blogging when she was the same age, so definitely doable! And instead of a non-techie mom guiding her like mine had, yours has John Chow giving her tips! What a lucky girl! Yeah. like Corrin said, get nintendo to sponsor her. lol!

It really was nice of John Chow to entertain her :)
