Saluting America
June 30th, 2009 by Connie RobertsWith Independence Day in the USA coming up very soon I am going to be saluting America. We usually have a barbeque, fly the Flag, take in a parade and see some fireworks. This year I’d love to add some patriotic music to our day.
To some of you it may seem corny, but I truly love songs like God Bless America, You’re A Grand Old Flag and God Bless America. They give me goosebumps. I remember back in elementary school when it was the bicentennial and we put on a play about the USA. I learned songs that were about America and it’s history to sing in the chorus. To this day, I remember every word.
Listening (and singing along quietly so I won’t scare anyone away) to an MP3 Download of this type of music on any patriotic holiday will just add to the party and make me and others feel how blessed we are to be Americans. A Salute To America is going to be available on July 3rd at Amazon.com for only $1.99. It contains 30 songs and is the Amazon MP3 Deal of The Day.

Some other songs, besides those above, are Battle Hymn of The Republic and Stars and Stripes Forever. You can play this on Memorial Day, Veterans Day, Flag Day, or whenever you feel the spirit hit you.

I’m a wife and mom of two daughters. My daughters are 12 years apart so that keeps me quite busy and a little crazy at times. My life is a jumble of mixed up mishaps, but it’s always centered around my family.

I remember when the first of school when we said the pledge of allegence hand over heart. I too love the patriotic songs of my youth and particularly signifigant for these times, I remember Loretta Lynn’s song :God Bless America Again”

Hey Connie,
I totally miss the U.S. I miss it so much some times that I find myself trying to recreate my fantastic childhood memories that I had there.
I even bought those Bulletin Boards for classrooms and decorated my entire living room with them -LOL. I completely understand loving the feeling we get wehn we listen to certain songs.
Blessings,
Eren
