Orthodontist Appointment

This Friday is Peanut’s orthodontist appointment. Now that she’s had her second oral surgery, we’re hoping that she’ll be ready for braces. I’m not sure if we’ll wait until after the wedding to have them done though as she was so happy to have her front tooth finally come. This way she can smile really big for the wedding photos.

I don’t think about one month or so will matter much, but we’ll wait to her what the doctor says. She’s already planning on the colors of her braces. How things have changed since I had the regular metal ones. I’m pleased with the orthodontist as he does very well with children and with explaining things to parents.

Once those braces are on, she is going to have to really work at brushing her teeth. We may buy a power toothbrush as this may help her brush better. I have to remember to ask his opinion about this. One almost in braces and one almost married. It gets a bit weirder as time goes on!

Decisions, decisions! If she’s proud of the braces I guess go for it. If 10 years from now she berates you for the pictures LOL! And you’re right, things have come a long, long way – from bleeding lips and mangles of wire to being able to choose the color… amazing. Hope you’re plans go off without a hitch!

Congratulations to Peanut! I had braces back in the day when the band went around the entire tooth. Sheesh. But I was so glad when I got them off and my teeth were straight. I’m still thankful that my parents gave me that gift. Going to the othodontist was sort of fun after a while. It hurt a bit when the braces were tightened, but I felt I was that much closer to having nice teeth. Good luck!

I remember WAY BACK WHEN I got braces – they were awful! Mouths chock full of silver hardware. Nowadays, braces are the cool thing – kids can’t wait to get them and color coordinate them.

Funny how things change, isn’t it?

I didn’t get braces until I was in my early 40′s and I always asked for colored rubber bands – like green and red at Christmas and the like. I figured if I was gonna have braces, I was gonna have fun with ‘em!

And yes, it does get weirder all the time, doesn’t it??
