Facebook Vanity Names

It was as if the entire internet was headed for a doorbuster sale that began at midnight last night, instead it was time to get your Facebook vanity name. I had forgotten all about it of course, but because I was on Twitter, I got the word just in time. And I was lucky, not many people want the name, “ConnieFoggles”.

I got that and then decided to get a fan page for this blog. I may get one for my other blogs too. I need to learn how to add the RSS feed without having to do it manually to save time. Now to get more than five fans! I’m not even sure if it’s worth it, but I’ll see how it goes.

Trying to get traffic coming to my blog takes a lot of work. I’m trying out some new things to see if they work. I know my stats will drop next week when I go away but everyone needs time off, especially when it’s time with your family.

Did you get the Facebook name you wanted? Do you have a fan page for your blog or business?

Truth be told, I hadn’t even given it any thought though I did see the thing about being able to make your own name or whatever the heck it is. Honestly, I just can’t keep up with all of this stuff – Facebook, Twitter, Blogger, breathing … !!

I wanted Laurie, but instead ended up with LaurieB. I should have thought about my nickname laurie_pooh or my blog name, but oh well :)

I got mine – CRuhlig. My business page is too small to get its’ own name. Bummer. Just Between Friends North Tampa needs more fans!

I went this morning and took something that was ok. Not too worried about it really. Debating whether to set something up with for my blog on Facebook. I guess I should look into it more.

    Laura says:

I took ThatGrrl on Facebook. It’s the one I’ve been using everywhere for several years now. I thought having the vanity name would mean we could choose to use that versus our actual name. I would prefer that to having my full name online. I’ve never liked that about Facebook. I don’t have a fan page for anything though I’ve joined a few and forgotten about them. As Linda said above, there is just too much of all this stuff.

I’m glad my name isn’t as common as say Ann Smith. I wasn’t going to stay up all night to request a name. I did get my name though….and it’s alot better than that long number! maureen.heiden

It’s a testament to how much I am NOT on FB that I have no idea what a vanity name is.

I got benspark. That is how everyone knows me. I couldn’t get one for my I’m Not A Famous Blogger Un-Fan page though since I didn’t have the 1000 fans needed, I have 8. It is a joke page anyway.

Getting traffic is always a biggie for everyone. Yes, it does take time. I try to visit blogs and find messages I like where I can leave a comment and a link back to my blog. And don’t forget the value of web directories and blog directories.

I chose Raesmom since I use it for practically everything these days. I had to laugh at the doorbuster sale analogy as that was about right. Everyone seemed very anxious to get in and get theirs. ;)

The best name that I saw that was facebook.com/movie . If they release the movie that could be a home run.
