New Bed Needed

We need a new bed for Peanut already. We just bought her a brand new bed about three years ago and it was pretty expensive. Unfortunately the company that made the bed went out of business. The bed is pretty unusual as it does not have a normal sized mattress as well as the style of the bed.

It is a loft bed and has storage space and a play area underneath. The problem is that the mattress is very uncomfortable. Any movement Peanut makes, you can hear the wooden slats underneath make weird noises. Peanut says she can feel the wood pushing into her body.

We’re stuck looking for new kids furniture now. We are going to be sure to find a company with a good background that’s been in business for a long time.

   Had the same problem w Hunter’s loft bed. I had a piece of thick plywood cut to fit over the planks and added a second mattress that I found at a 2nd hand kids consignment shop. I put it on the bottom in a zippered mattress cover on the bottom. He was thrilled and it lasted him until he got too big for the bed. Just a thought.

   Debbie, I may give that a try! I never thought of adding a plank of wood. That alone may do the trick. Thanks so much!

   We have to get a new twin size bed, too. I can’t believe how much they cost!!! My kids would love a loft bed but I’m saying no. I wish we could just buy bigger bedrooms!

   A piece of ply wood is a great idea. I had to do that with one of my old beds. You can also get one of those feather mattress covers at Target for pretty cheap to throw over the top.
